Joseph Parker is fighting the Australian heavyweight, Bowie Tupou.

Tupou has apparently been sparring with Australia's top heavyweights (Browne & Meehan). Browne tips a win for Tupou over Parker.

Who do you think takes it out?

    Tupou - 25(17KO), 3(3KO), 0
    Parker - 14(12KO), 0, 0

Tupou had 2 losses against Malik Scott & Bryant Jennings ( 2008 ). He put Jennings down in their fight but was demolished later in the fight.

Since then, he has taken on lesser opponents and won 3 consecutive fights.

How do you see this fight playing out?

I see Parker winning by accumulated damage and stopping Tupou before the 7th round. He may stop him in the 5th by a KO to the body. Tupou will quit once he has been tagged repetitively.

Similar. I expect the game plan will be for Parker to ultimately jab from the outside and keep Tupou out of the centre of the ring, gradually cut down the body and possibly wreck him in 5th-7th by wearing him down as you say.

I think if Tupou/Fenech's proposed aim of starting and finishing hard again Parker is true then I wouldn't count out a rnd2/3 KO by Parker, with the initial damage done by a counter-punch while Tupou comes throwing - Tupou like the others ends up dazed and put off by the taste of power and Parker goes into kill.

This was something which has come up a few times now, I was looking forward to the Saglam fight because Saglam has never shown "The fear" after being hit but after the first exchanges in the first round with Parker he was just not interested in getting too into it, it seems from that those who have experienced it first hand that even though the speed is expected - Parker's punches come in insanely fast and they clearly have a lot of weight to them, I'm not convinced Tupou has a typical islander-spec jaw so it may slow his plan down real fast.

I don't think Bowie has that god given Tua/Hunt jawbone either. Nor does he have the game changing power.

Can't see what he brings to the table that should threaten Parker.

Wouldn't go that far. Parker has to be very careful, I think Tupou did a nice job against Bryant Jennings considering how good a fighter Jennings is - it was obviously a convincing loss, but he showed signs of having definite threat to someone of Parkers level.. especially given how serious he sounds like he has taken it.

Haven't a well trained fit 120kg dude trying to hurt you is always going to be a threat!

    Agree 100% :good

You need to cut it out man. Saying things that I could have said myself  Parker is looking good atm. Bulked up a fair amount recently. Will be interesting to see how it effects his power.

From what I have seen of his training, his handspeed has only increased.

The work to the body will prove its worth in this fight I think. I dont think they is another heavy out atm that offers such a threat to the body that Joe offers. I get annoyed watching him because he regularly head hunts when a fighter is hurt, where as he could finish fights much easier chopping at the body.

NZ TAB has Parker at $1.03 and Tupou at $10
I haven't got it that wide, but if Parker loses it will be a massive upset

    Same goes haha.

We are on the same wave length. I am overall really excited to see how this goes and think it could be a really good message sent out by Parker if it goes like I ultimately think it will or should. I can't watch it live which I am ultra frustrated about but it should be a very very interesting fight!

True about the weight! Parker said after Wlad's training camp he wanted to become stronger and he looks really good now.

It should be a great night of boxing. Glad to see the South Island here in NZ is getting the chance to host the event too. Almost all higher ranked fights take place in the North...

A few good fights on the undercards too. Keep an eye out for the Aussie boy Jeff Horn. He is a very very capable fighter. Expect a good technical fight from him. Also on the card is Bowyn Morgan from Christchurch. He is a local boy that used to box at the same gym as me. Very nice guy and pretty crafty. He came up shy at the Commonwealth games recently but walked away with the Silver medal. Expect fireworks in his fight. He has powerful hands for his size.

Thanks for the heads up about Jai, ill make sure to keep an eye on him :good

Haha so I was kinda right but actually apparently underestimated the brutality of Parkers latest guise. Can't wait for the next bout
