Would be a good step up for Parker.

No chance. Where is Hammer ranked with any of the alphabets?

    Answer: Nowhere.

Parkers April opponent is looking like Carlos Takam.

IBF route looking most liekly for JP to fight towards. Parker is #6 on the IBF, with Takam #5, which possibly will leap frog Anthony Joshua at #4 on the IBF to the mandatory spot.

Have never seen a Joseph Parker fight so cannot comment on him. Joshua could be the real deal we'll soon know

Takam Parker is exciting to think about, but I think its too much. There is a huge gap between 43yo Meehan (at best a top 35 hw) and Takam, a legit top 10 HW. Parker's risking a lot by facing him with his limited current experience. I agree with OP, Hammer would be a good inbetween step up. I'd rate him top 25. Similar dimensions to Takam as well.

The fact is that JP is rated highly by a number of alphabets...the work he did to get there could easily be undone if he continues to keep fighting lower ranked opponents. He needs, and he has himself said that he is more than ready to take on top 10. I believe him. He MONSTERED Kali Meehan, made him look like a top 150 fighter. How good is JP? Takam will be the one to continue his ranking rise, and test him.

    bring it on I say.

Parker should relocate to England and wrap himself in the Jack. Must have some ancestor he can claim.

He could fight USS Cunningham in the US to build his ranking too.

Takam is a tough out for anyone.

Far too risky for Parker. If he were to lose just now, that could set him back 2+ yrs.

Fighting USS or Chisora puts him right down the rd he needs to follow.

That or Browne, win or lose vs Chaagev. :thumbsup

Chisora beats Takam. Other than that, I agree.

Uss is dropping to cruiser...so he's out. Chisora will be fighting Helenius. If Takam is considered a lesser fighter than Chisora who is widely considered a journeyman/gate keeper...you've basically agreed with me saying Takam would be a great option.

Browne is secondrate..and after losing wouldn't be worth the fight.

Takam stops Del inside 4 rds.

Del doesnt get by his 1-2 without dropping in the first, then survives the next 3.:good

He's a solid payday and won't altogether lose his ABC rankings with a title loss.:rofl

    It's a great domestic dustup.

Kids gotta make some cheddar on his way up too.:good

Hardly. Just Chisora is criminally underrated on these boards. Takam's best win, by far is against Tony Thompson. Thompson was beat by Scott. Scott was beat by Chisora. No triangle theory doesn't work, but resume comparison does. Chisora fought tough against all the HW's he lost to, 3 HW's who have been considered at least top 3 at various time(VK, Haye, Fury). He has wins against a top 5 at the time HW in Helenius and a fringe top 10 guy in Scott, among several over fringe top 20-30 guys. Takam? Just Thompson. Chisora is a top 10 HW, right alongside Takam

Really depends which Chisora shows up, throughout his career he has seemed to have shown motivational issues. I feel he's passed it these days unfortunately, but hopefully not.

I agree with you. There is no need to rush Parker. Parker is still a very young 23 years old. Takam is 35 and just had a very close fight with Povetkin (14 months ago) before Povetkin knocked him out in the 10th round. Parker is a special talent and if they play their cards right he will make everybody on the team a ton of cash. He is strong with very fast hands for a heavyweight. I really like Joshua a lot but rate Parker maybe a little better. The division is in good hands with these two studs.
