There is chatter around a possible matchup to unify 2 belts mid next year. I know Team Parker would love a crack, but unsure if Wilder will want to risk his 0 unless he dines out on the stupid money AJ is pulling in. So who will win this hypothetical matchup? Parker- Youth, hand speed, combination puncher, favours taller opposition, great chin, not the best when going backwards defensively, willingness to fight all comers. Wilder- Reach, right hand power, defensively open when going backwards, chin suspect, height, injury prone.
Wilder really needs to step up and if he doesn't get a Joshua matchup he is quite likely to take the Parker bout, I feel. Parker by KO or UD.
Voted for Wilder. I have massive respect for Parker's level of opposition against Ruiz, Alexander and especially Takam. I think he has far more confidence in himself than Wilder, and his opponents over the last year have been better than Wilder's. I was really shocked by how much of a hard time Parker had with Ruiz. I thought he would beat him convincingly, and instead it was very close. I don't think much of Ruiz at all, and seeing him struggle put a lot of doubt in my mind. I don't think Wilder is a top 5 heavyweight, but I put Wilder one place about Parker. I think Parker is more skilled, but would struggle with Wilder's size and Wilder does seem to preform better against the same level of opponent.
Hard one to call. Parker didn't look good against Ruiz or Takam but Wilder isn't going to be pushing him back like them, he'll give Parker the space and time to get off first and be the aggressor and that will suit Parker. But Wilder is better than Takam and Ruiz and moves far better than anyone Parker has fought so far, so Parker may have trouble getting to Wilder. If Wilder can control the range he can win. It's a pick em fight for me, but I'm leaning towards Parker, he's got the better chin, Wilder does make mistakes which Parker can capitalise on and Parker is far quicker. I think Parker will make Wilder pay for that wide stance he sometimes adopts, I can see Parker coming in and catching him with quick shots as Wilder leaves his hands very low sometimes. It won't be easy and he may have to walk through fire but if he can get in range he should hopefully come out on top.
I think people really seem to underestimate Ruiz. The guy can box really (insane speed for a hw) well has never been rocked and is young and hungry. I would image he would give Wilder alot of problems with his speed and we wold find out what Wilders chins is really made of. In regards to Wilder and Parker, Parker has had to dig deep a few time in his career and had had some good wars, Wilder has had one good win, otherwise feasting of bums pretty much. This will give Parker a big advantage and we would find out if Wilder has what it takes to be a champ (as we have found out with Parker). So who wins, it would all depend on how Parker can take Wilders power, if he can Parker should win if not Wilder...
Parker will take this by TKO, if not KO I think it's a combination of Parker being better than most think, and Wilder being worse than most think ( very wreckless, open and susceptible to being caught by a fast, moving, KO puncher like Parker ) in comparison to the upper levels ( which Wilder has yet to face ) But I doubt wilder will take the risk. Last I heard Wilder is talking by about fighting Hughie. Lol
Wilder would win if they fought now. IF wilder does continue the route he is going though Parker will develope enough to where he improves the hole defense and win. He has to improve that because he will get hit with right hands from hell from wilder and style wise Parker hasnt fought a true power puncher yet so experiance has to favor Wilder here and think he finds a way home. Intangibles would be Paker hasnt fought out side of NZ. Wilder likes to fight off the back foot ,so he wont chase parker, this will hurt Parkers recent bait trapping and fighting a defensive counter fight style. He then has to go forward which again brings up defense issues and we are talking long reach and 6'7 Wilder here, which changes the scope of parkers planning. this isnt small Ruiz who plods.
Wilder infuriates his haters by going on a huge KO streak of big name opponents starting with Parker who is decent but not huge in name recognition yet. Follows this bout with KO's over Klitschko, Joshua & Fury before retiring and making his haters so mad their heads explode.
I doubt Ruiz is ever hungry looking at him! All jokes aside, I think Parker's chin allows him to get to Wilder and that he has enough power to put the big American in serious trouble. For that reason and the relatively low pay check on offer I can't see Deontay willingly taking a Parker fight.
That would be pretty funny. I wouldn't be annoyed at all, I'd just think it was really weird how he crushed all of those cans and low tier contenders for so long when he was capable of destroying the sport's elite names!
