Wilder has almost every advantage over Parker, and Wilder would not have such a CLOSE fight with a fat, short Mexican HW.
Sad thing is Wilder probably wins, makes more money in that fight, even at 60/40 than any two of his other defenses, and doubles his bargaining position for a mega fight unification against Wlad or AJ, but he's still too chicken **** to do it.
Not sure Parker would be able to handle Wilder's power and erratic style. He is one awkward opponent, and as much as I'd like to see Parker win, I think he would struggle.
Molina, Szpilka and Duhaupas all took rounds off Wilder. It'd not take a big step up from that level of competition to start making Wilder look a LOT more vulnerable... Ruiz was fighting very well against Parker, aesthetics aside - Parker has been through that challenge and passed it, will learn from it and now he has to defend a title he probably won't be fighting 5+ times a year. Bare in mind he fought for that title less than 2 months after his last fight after a very busy year - two guys he faced in 2016 are arguably more serious challenges than anyone on Wilder's entire resume.
Maybe, but to be fair, I never gave Duhaupas a single round in their fight, I think compubox showed it one sided as well.
If he did all that, maybe his haters heads would explode, the reasonable fans would just say " why the **** did he waste his and our time and degrade the sport by fighting all those bums as defenses when he was that good".
Yeah it's been a while since I watched that fight, I just checked the official cards for it. Wilder was clearly in ultimate control but as things get "closer" they can QUICKLY become much more competitive.
Wilder vs Duhaupas- http://www4.cdn.sherdog.com/_images/pictures/20150926100753_Screen_Shot_20150926_at_10_47_38_PM.PNG and for all those thinking Parker gets tagged too often... Parker vs Takam- http://www.ducoevents.com/application/files/3914/6646/6455/160521ParkervTakam_30.JPG Wilder is defensively flawed... so so flawed.
You can tell by my avator who Id pick Wilder said they're keen to fight Joseph mid year if all goes well for both fighters but I hear Parker will attend the Joshua/Klitschko. Id be suprised if Joe got into the ring and called the winner out but I think if he does do it, Id imagine Joe to do it in a civilised manner. Joes not a 'lets go champ' guy not that I got anything against that kind of approach which I find entertaining. Hes done it once to Joshua but it suprised me and I think Duco hypnotised him to do it. Back to Wilder and Joe, first of all this counts for very little but does anyone know if Joe got knocked out in the amateurs or ever, or even wobbled. Im not trying to make a point here of Joe being tough as its poor defence to be tagged as many times as Joe has but Im just curious as Ive never seen him hurt in all his pro fights. Seen him cut, thats about it. Maybe someone whos seen him in the amateurs knows something...
well well well, Where does one start? Wilder is better than Ruiz, Alexander or Takam. I don't know why i even bother to mention the Alexander dude- maybe just because of his height lol But I don't think any of those guys could handle the kind of power Wilder has. He is a good straight line fighter if you let him control his range, and he can harness freakish power from the leverage he gets from his height and reach. Joseph has good power, but it is not great power. Ruiz was very unlucky not to get the win that I and many of my boxing peers felt he did enough to win, and a draw would of been more appropriate. If Joe wins this..... and thats a big IF, it will be because he has a granite chin. He may well have that, and we seem to be on our way to finding out
Joseph Parker 23 vote(s) 46.9% Deontay Wilder 26 vote(s) 53.1% It's close, much like the possible matchup. Vote now
Parker has a better resume than Wilder with half as many fights which really puts Wilder to shame. However I would still pick Wilder to beat Parker, probably by late KO, no way Wilder would have struggled with Ruiz the way Parker did.
