Nothing suggests Ruiz, an undersized, chubby mess who should be fighting at cruiserweight beats Martin. The guy struggled with old man Liakhovich. Martin would break him down with his size alone like he did Glazkov (another guy who would easily beat Ruiz). Martin would be clear favorite with the bookies.
IMO Andy Ruiz's last fight ( in which he gave Parker a hard time for the most part of 12 rounds) suggests just that. If Ruiz was the underdog in a fight against Martin in the future, I'd put $$$ on Ruiz to win....I don't think the bookies would allow though.
Ruiz strikes me as a guy who fights to the level of his opponents. That'd explain why he's looked less than stellar against lower level guys but still given Parker problems. He's certainly not lacking in skill. Martin I've thought has looked really poor in all his fights. Just technically very sloppy and amateurish. He's a big unit though and still something of an unknown quantity.
Update: Joseph Parker 51.8% (43 votes) Deontay Wilder 48.2% (40 votes) This is probably the closest poll I've seen on this site.
Parker, like any decent fighter, would SHATTER Wilder's glass jaw. Which is why his management won't let that fraud anywhere near him.
There is a REASON Wilder has been fighting stiffs for so long - he can't take a punch and his management knows it.
A year ago I'd have given Wilder a much better chance, but his insistence on fighting sub-par challengers has started to erode my confidence in him. I was prepared to defend him up until the Szpilka fight, but Arreola and now this joker Wawrzyk tell me that Wilder has peaked and his handlers know that. He's surprised me once before though (vs Stiverne) so I hold out hope that he'd still be able to give Parker a good challenge.
That means he can't win competitive fight ? Elite fighters are rarely in competitive and tough fights, hence them being the elite
Peaked? A far better - and likely much more accurate explanation - is that his handlers knew he was never any good to begin with, and, in particular, didn't take a good punch. This is why he faced such pathetic "competition" for FIVE years before he "stepped up" to face people like Fraudley, washed-up Lyakhovich and never-was Malik Scott. And it's why he's fought mediocre fringe contenders ever since he won the title.
