Dillian Whyte must be cursing his luck, he'd have jumped at the chance I imagine. Had started camp as he was expecting to be on either AJ or Kell Brook undercard, has always said he really fancied his chances against Parker. If the Wach fight was an undercard fight rather than a headliner he may have stood a chance of re-negotiating it as his first voluntary defence if he were to beat Parker.
Could be true. The sparring pictures on Twitter seemed to stop after Daniel Dubois was in camp with them. On the BBBOC website Hughie is not on their list of licenced boxers either.
He was too busy begging Bellew for a payday and finding new ways to dodge his rematch with Chisora to ever concern himself with Parker.
This is what happens when mediocre fighters get hyped fighting tomato cans, somehow become rated and end up getting shots at a belt. The realisation must have hit even amongst the parochial Fury's that their boy was going to be badly hurt. I said it from day one, they were never going to let Hughie go down there and fight Parker.
David Higgins from Duco is still furious with Team Fury for not even getting in touch with him regarding the Fury fight being called off. “Frank Warren is talking in the media as if this fight is going to happen later in the year offshore. It’s flabbergasting – he’s saying that without even having spoken to us, so I’m furious,” Higgins said. As the WBO mandatory, Fury may still get the fight with Parker later this year, but Higgins said that “there will be some politicking going on.” Higgins wants to see medical evidence of Fury’s injury; reportedly a lower back injury.
If he is injured why isn't the fight simply being pushed back to a later date? why are they looking for new opponent's?
The WBO says Parker can go forward with a replacement defense. Why should Parker have to wait? And there's no proof that we know of that's been offered to support the assertion that he's actually injured. It took them quite a long time to come up with the excuse (to issue a statement claiming a specific injury) after the fight was called off. Here's how it seems to have gone: Parker's promoter wins purse bid. All seems well. Fury camp starts making demands. Hughie doesn't show up in New Zealand as scheduled. Peter Fury starts taking about 'antics' -- as if there's more to negotiate after the purse bid settled and contracts were signed. Reports emerge that Furys want fight in England, even though it has been set in New Zealand according to winning purse bid. (If Furys want to fight in England, they have to pony up and win the purse bid ... which they did not.) New Zealand promoter says Fury camp has been unreasonable, impossible to work with. Says they are asking for different travel arrangements, etc. Suddenly, 2 weeks before the fight, Hughie pulls out. Injury is claimed but no proof put forth. So why on earth would Parker's camp decide to trust the Furys with a possible reschedule? Time to move on.
WBOs idea for Parker to look for new opponents for the much anticipated May 6th that so many were expecting. Duco need to deliver a show on the scheduled date as the Furys already had the original date changed. Cant have them change it a second time. Also Joes needs to fight as it's almost 6 months and he's fought no one, making no money. Uncertainty surrounding the injury because of the actions of Team Fury leading up to the injury which were indicative of a cancellation. There was also rumours of a cancellation right here on this forum and now its cancelled due to a injury sustained three weeks ago. However, Team Fury on social media as late as last week, never mentioned any injury and that the fight was on.
I don't understand the Fury's here. Getting a bad reputation as unreliable quitters. Even Haye has a better rep now. Would not do business with them if I was a fight promoter.
So I assume of Furys can't prove the injury to WBO he will get dropped from rankings? You can't say you're injured and **** up the whole event.
