It would be a great fight stylistically and Ryabinsky would certainly make sure Parker is paid but would it be as big a payday as Joshua/Parker? I doubt it. I know Parker has a big heart but even then I can't see why he would take the extra risk of a fight with Povetkin (whom I think beats Parker) when Hammer, Schwarz and Whyte are all in the WBO top ten and thus are suitors for a voluntary. Hammer and Whyte would be good wins for his flourishing resume (I honestly have no idea who Schwarz is though) and would keep him busy while he waits for a unification. So much hinges on Wilder/Ortiz and Stiverne/Breazeale that it's pretty difficult to predict who will be fighting who next.
Just read that Parker ballooned up to almost 270 and lost 22 lbs in camp for this one... Explains why he was so sluggish.
Dont know how am i supposed to score that one honestly. It wasnt pretty at all.Lets say draw was closer than 118-110 and leave it that way.Hughie is still young but that style and personality wont get him fans. I guess the fans of running [boxing?] can score it for H.Fury and fans of ineffective aggression but barely landing a punch scored it for Parker.I was rooting for Fury but always prefered aggression before so got mixed feelings on that one, lets just say it was pathetic fight and its better that Parker kept his belt. Parker has zero power once he stepped up,if we can say that Cojanu was step up lol.
It was a stinker of a fight but it wasnt Parkers fault. He tried to make it a fight but Huggie didnt want that to happen.
That's not entirely true, he just hasn't been able to land clean enough or get the kind of leverage he did against Oceania and European level heavies. Based on the Dimitrenko and Cojanu fights alone, I think there's some truth to the claims that hand injuries have taken his power out of the equation. Dimitrenko is definitely the superior operator and he couldn't take Parkers power, Cojanu has no chin whatsoever as Dennis showed.
Pass the sauce? If Parker hasn't eaten all of it. Really not a good look for Parker to get complacent. He isn't at a level where he can afford ill discipline health wise between fights. In fact he is the type of talent that should be focussing on staying in shape as that's one thing he can control amongst his limitations.
If Parker had zero power then Cojanu / Fury would have come out more offensively. Both tried brave moments, tried to get offensive and got stung and then tried to backflip out of the ring to keep out of way of Parkers swings. Fury did not get a full power clean shot landed and STILL look quite bothered by a couple of the shots that landed. Parker is not elite power level, but despite a lot of people just saying "Fury could have been a bit more aggressive and won"... that power is a large amount of the reason Fury didn't engage more, and if he did then we may be having very different conversations about Parker's method of victory.
Zero. Povetkin is far too accomplished & the juicing question makes him an outcast. None of the top heavies will face Povetkin. He's too dangerous & could upset them. None will be forced to face him because of Povetkin's positive drug tests.
That's quite shocking actually. One thing I respected Parker on was his discipline since his athleticism plays such a big part in his success. If he's getting complacent at this stage then we might as well write him off now. It's only going to downhill. He needs to get in gear and take things seriously from here on out because he has a ton if things to work on in camp and can't afford to be wasting his time burning off excess blubber that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
I know it's compubox, but gives a reasonably fair reflection of the fight in numbers... This content is protected Based on that it's very close to the 118-110 scorecard. The "Ali like" jab, was just simply not landing, as shown. 1 maybe 2 a round won't get a belt off a champ.
I got bagged out whenever I said Parker was slipping and blocking most of Hughie's jabs, and when that was MOST of what Hughies fight plan involved... Parker basically was come forward AND was defensively effective against someone completely neutral. He really should be getting more credit for his boxing in this fight.
