Joseph Parker vs. Hughie Fury To Take Place In The UK In September

Hard to get hyped for a fight when you can't rely on it even going down. I like the Fury's but they have done themselves no favours image-wise in the recent past.

That said, if it does happen;

I can't see anything other than a Parker win. If Fury makes it to fight night, of course.

 

Now that they've weaseled out of having to fight outside of the UK, perhaps the fight will actually go through.

 

This is pretty much it: Hughie has the slickness and awkwardness to make Parker look awful and leave casuals wondering what all the fuss was about regarding him. Hughie boxes on the move, and while Parker tends to thrive against bigger Heavyweights, Fury won't be stood directly in front of Parker for the entire duration of the fight like Dimitrenko was.

However, how much training and sparring Hughie may have done since his last fight is another matter entirely. He has a while to start a training camp and prepare for Parker ... if Hughie and his team truly intend on Hughie fighting Parker this time around, that is.

 

Wouldn't shock me if Hughie beat Parker to be honest. Parker is stagnating and looks vulnerable. Even though Hughie doesn't have the style to force Parker backwards where he's less effective, he brings skills we haven't seen Parker have to deal with yet.

 

In much the same way that it was Big Andy Ruiz's only shot of beating Joseph Parker in New Zealand.

 

This is going to be Parker's make or break fight. He's looked underwhelming in his last couple of performances and downright flat in his last one so something has to change, as Hughie is the type of opponent who could seriously make things awkward for him. If Parker is able to bring that savage level of aggression he used to show in his fights and do so in a controlled and intelligent manner, using the jab to disrupt and blind his opponents and create openings, then he should destroy Hughie. If he fights like a predictable drone Hughie will take him to school.

As a Parker fan I'm a little nervous about this one, but I also understand it's a fight he has to take if he's to grow.

 

How has Hughie looked in the last 12 months or so?

 

After parkers last performance i would not be surprised if Hughie got a decision. Parker looks good in bursts, hes got good hand speed power and combinations, appears to have a decent engine too, his work rate has been lacking recently though hes looked lazy in the ring, not sure why this is, maybe hes not been able to get up for the opponents who knows. If hes active with a high work rate i would pick him to KO fury.

 

So Hughie faked an injury to get the fight in the UK?
