With his signature fights being against Fred Kassi and Rudenko, Hughie hasn't proven anything at world level because he hasn't been at world level. I don't think that Parker has either, but his cv is considerably stronger than Hughie's is.

I don't like coming up with predictions based on the opposition but here the situation requires it. Parker was active and got past Takam and Andy Ruiz Jr. Although both fights were close, those heavyweights are solid. The biggest win by Fury is Andreii Rudenko, who is very average.

Given that Fury will have to travel to New Zealand for 12 rounds, the lack of experience and inactiity will be the difference. Stylistically, the best version of Fury should be able to outbox Parker but this is not going to be the case here.

Hughie is the next Muhammad Ali dances around him, and boxes his little head off.

I very very much want Parker to win this, beyond being a Kiwi backing my guy I really don't like the Furys and I don't like the fact that Parker he's being pushed into a fight with his mandatory immediately in the same era that Deontay Wilder (who people seem to unanimously think is a higher level than Parker) hasn't ACTUALLY beaten anyone better than Parker has and has had his belt for over 2 years with no mandatory defense. Even Joshua has had his belt for over a year without a mandatory defense, though at least he is fighting someone epic by his own volition - so I'm not going to complain there.

Yes, he SHOULD be able to win the mandatory if he deserves his belt but there are at least 3 guys who I give an extremely good chance to beat Wilder but he's been able to run around making out like he's an ATG so the double standards annoy the crap out of me - largely because if Hughie manages to with I'm going to have to leave this forum knowing the amount of Brittard talk of how crap Parker will supposedly be if he loses to someone who is obviously going to be a VERY good fighter if Fury does win.

In terms of who I think will win, I really don't know who to call for this one. I'm a bit bored of seeing silly comments regarding Parker's power which IS proven at world level. He has fought high enough level fighters to start getting a reasonable gauge of where his power sits in the division, hell just before Parker fought Ruiz he put away Dimitrenko like no one else has... Dimitrenko is not elite but he is certainly not domestic level, he is arguably as good or better than anyone Fury has beaten and most here think Fury will win so interesting that he has proven enough to people that he's going to beat Parker with that evidence.

Despite that, I do see a lot of things in Fury's fights so far which suggest he has it in him to really trouble Parker - he has good movement, is pretty quick, rangey and has the Fury ring IQ thing going on so realistically is likely to become a problem for anyone when he develops. The thing is, while I haven't really seen any major hint of a chin issue with Fury, I also haven't seen a performance yet which suggests he is good enough to beat Parker yet. It's hard to know how much credit to give the claims he's been operating at <50% or whatever, so really all the evidence we have is the fights he had so far and THAT Fury is not good enough to beat the current Joseph Parker... though he is enough to still give him a good fight.

There are a lot of things unanswered about both guys which make this hard to call, there are things about how both guys fight which can play perfectly into the hands of the other - meaning that in a lot of ways it will come down to the better game plan. I have a huge amount of respect for Fury, and think he has a good chance of winning this... but I think Parker is being seriously underestimated and that there is a chance that Parker may prove better than a lot of people are giving him credit for despite the evidence having been right there the whole time.

This is a good match up and it would be extremely poor form if people start calling whoever loses this a bum. These guys have a long time left to go and grow and this fight is still early days for both of them - full credit to them to be fighting and defending a HW world title fight at this age!

Good points. If Hughie has a solid chin I would guarantee he would box rings around Wilder and make it look easy.

Nice analysis here but a few points:

Stiverne is better win than anyone on Parkers record.

Dimitrenko had been KO'd before, questionable chin. All other knockouts have been domestic bums.

    Nope.

The Ruiz Jr that fought Parker beats Stiverne (with ease imo).
You would hard pressed to bet for Stiverne over Takam... Stiverne has proven he isn't as good as some like to believe.

I think that is plausible but debatable.

What? Having been KO'd once in the prior 41 fights means he doesn't count? Interesting.

Kali Meehan was getting on but still was an ex-challenger for a world title and was arguably robbed in that title fight, and generally was a tough customer. Solomon Haumono is definitely solid journeyman level, as well.

Anyway, I'm certainly not saying he's a Joshua or Wilder but I *will* be pulling some posts up if Fury gets folded. I look forward to seeing how long it takes before someone clean knocks out Ruiz or Takam, it could be a while.

I can't help but think that this fight will be Fury's coming out party.

I like Parker, but I just have a feeling that Fury is going to defeat him quite comfortably, and emerge as a top name at HW after this fight. The Fury's just seem so confident, and assured going into this match up. I can't see Parker out-boxing Fury in any way shape or form - I think he will have to be cutting the ring off and working hard the entire 3 minutes of each round - which I think Fury will relish.

I know we haven't seen much of Fury compared to Parker at this point - but I think this will be his announcement at world level.

This. As overrated and limited as Parker is he most likely decisions H. Fury.

Not sure why you mentioned Wilder in your thread he has nothing to do with it. Nevertheless I agree its a good competitive match and whoever wins should be given credit.
