The **** is this? What happened to prospective fights with Chisora and Usyk? Looks like he pulled a David Haye with this last minute switch against a nobody.

To be fair Parker his resume is still more impressive than Wilder or Ortiz so I wouldn't criticise him to heavily. However Parker should look to fight a top opponent soon after this.

With all due respect to Winters, as he pulled off a classic journeyman seize-the-brass-ring moment - like with Collard vs. Guajardo last weekend - this effort was just pathetic on Teslenko's part, for being a massively hyped 16-0 (12) prospect smack in his prime.. Even furthering the humiliation for his team is that coach Mark Ramsay had boasted of studying tape of lots of Winters' fights and "knowing exactly what to expect with him". :shakehead:

Teslenko didn't just get caught with some fluky KO. He arguably lost all but one completed round leading up to it.

He actually had Winters hurt badly twice in round three, and with a speck of ring IQ he could have stopped him either time...but in both instances he followed up like a complete moron, doing literally everything wrong. Attacking inefficiently and sloppily in energy-wasting flurries, and then dissociating once clinched, and having to will himself to rev up his engine once more, pecking in with blocked jabs as Winters flitted around recuperating. Then when he got buzzed himself, there was no head movement, no instincts to box tall behind the jab - nothing. Just stood there, chin up at mid-range as though blindfolded in front of a firing squad. Forget comparing him to David Price; the Brit is a genius in comparison.

Bottom line: Winters isn't some diamond in the rough HW killer who could've been champ if he debuted prior to his mid-thirties. No. He's an okay gatekeeper. Zero threat for someone like Parker, and will probably get either stopped or shut out by the Samoan-Kiwi. Teslenko just happens to be 6'4" of pure derp.

Parker's Chisora fight was cancelled due to Parker's illness.

Parker needs something big soon. He is losing momentum

Was that the tiny little insect bite on his foot that caused him to pull out?

Right knee, and I don't know if you are trolling or not but saying something like that "tiny little insect bite" as though it's just an inconvenient pinch or itch is plain ignorant - whether wilfully or not. Do people who say this kind of thing actually think about what it would mean to Parker? He pushed for and signed up for the fight, Chisora is less dangerous than guys he's already fought and would fight again, and would have been a great fight on his resume.

Blood infections are BAD things, I've been hospitalised from the same kind of spider bite in NZ (on my arm) and my entire arm was swollen - I couldn't carry things (like, anything) for a week, and the effects went on for longer after that. I cannot at all imagine being in the middle of a training camp against one of the top 15 dangerous heavyweight boxers in the world.

Anyone who criticises Parker for pulling out of the Chisora fight are complete utter morons.

Yeah the rot for Tua started in 2003 with joining Cedric Kushner. He started a comeback a couple of years before Cameron and there was big talk of an Arreola fight which would have been great. There were talks with taking on the Klitschkos etc. Then we get a string of bums and fade to black. Tua just flakes on his career. Then Duco (Higgins and John McRae) come along and promote the **** out of the Cameron fight and resurrect Tua career. But then Tua is making bad decisions, like not retaining his strength and conditioning coach, because he though it cost too much. He signed a TV deal for the like 50k per fight. He turned down an offer to fight Wlad Klitschko for all the world titles because it was only for 400k. Even the first Monte Barrett fight I thought was a banana skin. Monte had been KO badly a number of times. They though they were taking a soft touch, but Barrett still had a better boxing brain than Tua.

I used to blame everyone else becuase Tua is not the smartest guy and there was this narrative that he was being taken of advantage of by everyone. I blamed, Barry, Pugh, his wife, etc. But at the end of the day he was the one driving career into the dust and making all the bad moves. You would hear the same bull**** from Tua blaming everyone else too. He would say every fight "It's different now, Im doing for my family, I have motivation" just a load of ****. Tua's stupidity just made me so ****ing angry.

Parker is the same now. He is happy where he is at. He won't make the changes needed to reach the top. I think he is completely capable of beating anyone with the right coach and training and becoming world champ again. But that aint going to happen. Unfortunately his is done, but only because mental makeup. I mean look at Tyson splitting with Davison because he thinks he might be able to improve a couple of percent with sugar hill.

There's something frustrating about watching someone be their own worst enemy. I think because a lot of us struggle with it in our own lives.

Parker's loyalty has cost him. Nothing wrong with the decision making but his could have been a much greater career.

Since Parker is just 27 - the jury is out on that.

Still time for a big comeback
