If it wasn’t in his home country? How many thousands of fights have swung in favour of the home fighter, it happens from am’s all way to highest levels of pro game all over the world. Or look closer to home in U.K. as we have had some shocking calls for our fighters… and Parker’s win over ruiz wasn’t shocking or controversial was just a close fight

Still see Parker as a borderline top 10. After the top 4 the level is very close and it is tough to determine the ranking.

Parker was WBO champion, has a decent record, so he is higher than others who have yet to fight a relevant opponent.

I would consider him the favourite vs Wallin, Dubois, Bakole, Hunter, Big Mak, Zhang, Ortiz

After watching Dillian Whyte get the decision in England in every close fight he has been in, I have wouldn't rag Parker for his close wins.

Parker should target Hygovic- Hygovic has ranking/mandatory and reputation but hasn't fought at parkers level of opponent apart from Zhang who shoulda-coulda got the decision.
I think Hygovic got a huge fright v Zhang and thats is why he dropped to McKean level but McKean was harder work than he hoped.
I don't expect Hygovic to fight anyone with a pulse from now until his title shot but Parker should call him out and pressure him into a fight with so many gains for him.

I'd like to see Anderson or Jalolov vs Parker. He's a world class gatekeeper now and probably can make decent money for another couple years. I do wonder how much the Joyce fight took out of him, tho - he got busted up pretty good.

At his best he was a fringe contender, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. At one time I thought he might become more of a fixture in the top five, but he leveled off early and seemed to lose interest in the sport.

This is what bugs me... How is a former world champion a fringe contender?

I use those categories based on a fighter's ability, not whether they actually have or have not won a belt. For example, I would consider Gualtari a fringe contender at 160 as well on the same basis.

Parker is still top ten material. Sound boxer with decent skill set. A challenging fight for anyone.
