Be hard pushed to call Ruiz Jr fairly heavy handed. I remember Zumbano Love basically laughing at his shots. Plus Haumono and Meehan were in there for like 6 rounds combined lol. Takam has decent power but not enough to give Parker's chin any kind of real claim at being legit, IMO.

For the record, I think it's probably pretty solid but it's being billed as certified which seems premature

Yeah Ruiz Jr isn't a huge puncher. Only 19 KO's from 29 wins, that doesn't scream huge hitter. He can KO fragile lower level guys but Love, Liakhovich took him the distance exposing his lack of genuine power.

Plus what power he has basically vanishes after round 4, he's never stopped anyone after round 4. In most of his fights he's noticeably tired after 4 rounds and what power he has vanishes.

    i agree

but depending on who parker has had as sparring partners his camp would know where his chin stands

takam and ruiz landed nice clean shots but both are arm punchers.
fury landed but again a arm puncher

there is a danger that all the talk of parker being fgranite chinned leaves parker to the conclusion himself.

this he must not do v joshua / needs to keep his hands high /guard very tight when he tries to close on joshua to let his hands go.

when you watch the fury fight parker walks in his left hand is so low and his head staionary / a sitting target to a right hand.

he was fighting fury / so maybe not worried at all about fury landing anything/ did it v takam as well.

i have never seen parker botherd at all by a shot / but he has not faced any power punching heavies.

i think parker has a sound chin and will be able to take joshuas power for a while/ the thing is if he makes too many mistakes and has to take clean shots repeatedly / if he keeps his hands as low as he has been doing/stays in the pocket to long after a combo he throws himself and does not learn to move his head / he is going to get ktfo by joshua great chin or not.

joshua has been in with some proven tough chins and hurt them and stopped them

    whyte/breazeale/johnson/takam

martin had never been down albeit his opposition was crap so we dont know about him.

takam stoppage was poor /but in the 4th takam was genuinley hurt and decked by puches that were not that clean / more the sheer weight of force behind them / heavy handed by joshua rather than snapped clean shots on that instance.

I do have to admit that I think Team Parker have risked getting carried away with the chin claims - he CLEARLY has a decent chin, but there is nothing so far to prove he does or doesn't have anything better than that as the opponents so far just haven't been hard enough hitters to be treated as bulletproof.

Takam's power is not top of the division but considering the times he has gone to a decision vs the level they have been against, he does probably have a better punch than he is getting credit for. Dillian Whyte keeps getting heralded for being a solid puncher and a big test yet and him and Takam have multiple opponents and the ones which they've both beaten - Takam has dusted off in the first 1/2 rounds while Whyte has needed 6-7.

Takam landed a couple of very flush shots on Parker and as we all know, Parker hasn't had any issues so far.

Ruiz Jr and Takam are a bit above average punchers.

Kali Meehan and Haumomo are.... Meehan and Haumono theres not much point discussing them.

Anyway Parker could have a really good chin but with his zero defence and head movement he's going to get bludgeoned into mincemeat regardless.

I have heard he has a chin like Tua's, if so, Joshua will have a long night..............

Why there is even a thread about this? Has Parker showed any issues with his stamina or chin? His chin is not bad, but hey it's the HW division. Everything can end with one punch, no matter who throws it. And the stamina question is totally ******ed. A guy that went the distance in all of his previous 3 fights is for sure way more prepared for a full fight than Joshua is.

Takam is very durable, I'd say generally on a par with anything we have seen from parket. He was also defensive against joshua, fighting small, moving his head, good guard etc. But parker is right there to be hit and theres a difference to being bashed in the side of the head or on the guard and taking flush straight right hands to the chin.

Is that based on anything apart from parker being samoan because i dont recall seeing parker ever have a 12 rounds slugfest with an ike ibeabuci type

I personally dont think tua would have been backing up to get away from shots from ruiz jr or takam tbh

Yeah, claiming that Parker has a Tuaesk chin has no basis in reality. You only have to look at the frame of Tua and the size of his head and neck to know that Tua was genetically predisposed to have a chin of depleted Uranium.
I can see Parker withstanding Joshua's power for a time but, Joshua's punches don't just concuss, they actually cause fight ending, physical injury. Parker can be as tough and as durable as he likes but, if he's getting hit as hard and as often as in previous fights by Joshua, one way or another, he's getting stopped.

To be fair, Parker has a decent sized head and neck as well - it's just not so obvious because he is 6 inches taller than Tua.

Put him side by side with Joshua and it becomes obvious that he has that Samoan cranial construction running strong : http://www.skysports.com/boxing/new...-anthony-joshua-cannot-put-a-dent-in-his-chin

I think everyone makes good points but when in the hell did AJ become some all conquering beast. Look at his fight with Whyte FFS, he looked terrible and was hurt by Whyte who he himself looked epileptic. On that night if it had have been JP in there instead of DW i think AJ would have been stopped. AJ getting some serious over rating going on here.

I agree in the last few fights AJ has perhaps looked better then JP in his last few, but AJ had better style match ups then JP.
I lean 60/40 in favour of AJ (only because of his power advantage) other then that i dont think he does anything better or worse then JP, however if the AJ that fought DW turns up hes getting beat
