Not sure about this strategy by Geffard… does he always fight like this? Just standing with a high guard and not throwing punches

He is using the high guard to get out of the early rounds he is nervous and tight

    Round 1 - 10-9 Smith

Geffrard's version of the Josh Clottey defense is not going to win him any rounds.

    Round 1 Smith Jr 10-9

Joe comes out aggressive, unloads several right hooks, then takes his foot off the gas, then comes back to life late and lands about 5 hooks before the bell.

Geffrard has the pedigree to out box Smith but the chin to stand and bang is?? not a good strategy

Geffrard using the old Joshua Clottey defence but I dont think its going to be successful, a few nice jabs though. JS moving forward like a train as expected and breaking through the guard in the last minute

Smith 10-9. Geffard didn't do badly in that round, and landed a few sneaky left hooks. But Smith's aggression and harder punching carried the frame.

geffard doing nothing, guard up, receiving punches. It seems he's just hoping smith to get exhausted by punching. I never liked very much this kind of strategies.

JSJ secured a somewhat close (as in uneventful) opener with some looping rights around the guard late, 10-9.
