I just do not see Geffrard winning any round.

 

Smith bought himself space to land upstairs with body work and had Geffrard in horrible bother for the last half-minute of R5...all well and good strategy wise but he walked a thin line there, in the middle part of the round the majority of his "body shots" were blatant low blows and he's lucky Mark Nelson gave him such a generous leash.

 

Gloves took most of the sting off those shots but Gaffrard looked a little surprised

 

how is he going to win a round throwing 0 punches? he has lost every single one of them

 

Since its Joe Smith he's probably taking a round off

 

I've actually been muttering just that since the second.

Smith only going balls-out in the final 33% of each round.

 

ring generalship, control of distance, efficient work. Backing up a stalker and making him box instead of brawl. Thats the very essence of forcing someone to fight your fight.

 

The high guard is perfect for hookers and looping punches but not for straight shots

 

Idiots, but the trainer in the shot and cut out the fight.

 

None of that matters if you dont land or throw punches

Shutout for the Caucasian lad at the halfway mark... a couple have bordered on 10-8 and perhaps could have been if he ramped it up sooner.

Finally a warning from Nelson (on Smith) for low blows too, btw.

Smith's power takes the round. Geffrard with some good combos but they have no power.

 

but he is landing his jabs from distance. he is hitting him flush with the right cross. And the workrate of Joe dont matter if all of it is on the guard, its called ineffective aggression.
