Josesito Lopez vs Marcos Maidana Who Wins?

As close to a 50/50 fight as they come, on paper. I agree with you, I'll take Lopez in a war where Maidana isn't quite active enough.

 

Disagree with Nonito about activity. Lopez lost to Jessie Vargas because he was so hesitant to throw punches.

Maidana will out work the young warrior. We all know Maidana aint getting knocked out unless it's a body shot.

Great fight. I too will take Lopez in a hard-fought decision. He's tough and active enough to not let Maidana beat him down. Not to mention, Maidana himself is vulnerable and his effectiveness can be stifled if you take it to his body.

Lopez deserves a easy fight. Jesus, the kid was through hell against Ortiz and then got his head caved in by Canelo like two and a half months later, which wasn't enough time to recover from Ortiz imo. This kind of match making will burn out anyone, even as tough and hungry as Josesito.

That doesn't mean he won't win this one though. For his flaws Lopez knows how to pick his spots, and if he commits to the body from the opening bell he can get to Maidana, who has an alarming tendancy to gas and get discouraged when people tickle his ribs.

Maidana looked like he was getting overwhelmed when Soto-Karass got inside and started going downstairs. On the other hand, Soto-Karass is basically a junior middleweight-an exceptionaly tough and strong junior middleweight-while Lopez is basically a blown up junior welterweight. I wonder whether he has the resiency to walk through the bazooka jabs that softened Karass up for that murderous right hand.

I've got to say, Lopez-Malinaggi might happen instead. Paulie seemed eager for that fight in a recent interview in the case that the Mosley fight fell through or good.

Aren't his last 4 fights something like L KO Alvarez, W TKO Ortiz, L SD Vargas, and W TKO Dallas Jr? That's an intense lineup of consecutive fighters for a bum.
