Historically, there have been plenty of marquee and well respected match ups where one fighter had a clear, big advantage in size and/or weight. You just take it for what it is. It is still a fine fight for a 21/22 year old who has fought about 12 times over the past 3 years.

So was Lopez draining the **** out of himself to get down to 140? I understand he is running this training camp much differently than he normally would, but he looked solid against Ortiz and very strong in that picture.

Nearly 30 pounds above jr. Welter and yet he weighed in at 144 3/4 "his natural weight" for his last bout.

    Strange.

That's the key question, indeed. I have always thought Lopez looked a little scrawny in he more recent fights. Not drained, exactly, but not solid, either.

It's quite possible that he's always been a natural SWW, and if so, who knows what the future holds?
If the extra weight doesn't affect his speed, he could be real trouble for the plodding, one-dimensional, severly-overhyped Alvarez.

Canelo looks very big. He will be up at middlweight very soon. After he gets done with this light welterweight it will be intresting to see if Oscar puts him in there with Sergio, or chavez jr, if martinez does not hurt him too bad.

He is a "Champion" defending his belt against a natural 140 lbs, there's no excuse for that and Lopez ain't Duran or sugar ray, I know younger fighters that once they won their belt they step up the competition, Canelo has goind down and down...
PS. IMHO Canelo should be fighting some one like the one below
