watched his fight with ortiz again last night, very impressed. he is an exciting fighter to watch and i think he can develop into a solid prospect at 147. he probably needs some time to get over the last few wars and beatdowns he has gotten. if he can condition himself better i see him as a quality opponent and might be able to do some damage in the division. he is only 29 and i think he has some good years left, anyone know who his next opponent will be?
I think the beatings he took of Maidana and Canelo took a lot out of him, he didn't look too good in his last fight. Good to watch though and always brings it.
yeah i think if he can condition himself better and fill out the 147lb frame he could be a contender.
I like Lopez, a real warrior who has been matched very strongly, the Lopez vs Ortiz fight just showed how much better Maidana is than Ortiz.
Lopez is a warrior no doubt. But Ortiz, to be fair, suffered a horrendous broken jaw in that fight. I cant blame him for quitting THAT one.
:good, yep that was a bad one for sure. He probably did the right thing in quitting for safety reasons.
what do you mean even without the jaw ? i think they cards had ortiz leading, i had the fight through 9 out whatever they finished very close but i think ortiz was the stronger and better conditioned fight and it looked like he would be able to beat him via points if not for the jaw. once the jaq gor broke he was too hurt to make it to the final bell. every time he would get touched and even clinches that jaw would be getting moved around nonstop and that im sure would be painfil. i had my jaw broke but i wasnt in a match so i didnt have to try to fight with it so i really dont know how painful it would be. i've played in the beanpot (hockey) with a broken ankle. it wasnt all that bad. with the right bondage you can play on a break but cannot play on a bad sprain, i tried before. just impossble. weird i know, i can play on a fracture yet the next season needed to sit out almost 4 weeks because of a damn high level sprain. bad sprains are worse and sometimes take longer to heal fully than a break. my last bad sprain in ummm 1999 it healed real quick. a bad high ankle sprain that was servicable in 4 weeks. impressive to say the least
josesito lopez is finished at the top level. gbp ruined him with the canelo fight and maidana finished him
I like him but IMO he was never that good. He was a supposed tune up fight for Ortiz, fought a great fight broke Ortiz's jaw but woould have likely lost on the official cards had it went the distance. He largely made his name off that, and is a decent slugger but I don't think ever was or will be at the top level, although I'd happily be proved wrong
One thing that was weird is when Maidana got the first knockdown Lopez was in the corner then he kinda got out then he went back into the corner then kept getting caught and got stopped He doesnt have the slowest foot speed I dont know why he couldnt get out I think he went sideways into the corner more than once
I thought he beat Jessie Vargas fun to watch not protected at all and his record reflects his ambition. Hopefully he takes what's he's learned and gets better
