    I was/am a fan of Josh Taylor.

I truly believed he was the UK best fighter we have had in years and believed him and Fury are the only current true elite British fighters on tge world stage. Maybe Taylor still is if he moves up ? I dunno.

However if you believe there is even an argument that Taylor won that fight you are either being soo willfully obtuse or are so stupid its a form of miracle.

When you look at how your scored that fight, you can see how it ended up so close.

Personally, when I'm scoring. If the fight is leaning heavily in favour of one, I often end up giving later, closer rounds to the chap that's clearly losing. I don't know if it's a natural sympathetic thing, but maybe so.

I wonder in future, should the rounds be scored individually, then each round card should be placed into a sealed box so the judge cannot remember how he has been scoring the fight, so he's literally scoring it round by round? Does that make sense?

What is the point of Competition?

I mean these lads work hard, hope & dream and yet the Business of Boxing - the Crooked Business - Denies, Cheats and STEALS Them of 'any hope', worth & possibility.

the Good thing is, had Taylor won that fight clearly, they'd be spewing the Usual BS, and that is he is Scotland's Greatest ever fighter, One of Britain's ATG's and an Historical Boxing Name to be forever praised... "What a Load of Utter Pish".

Catterall PROVED Two things last night...

    1) that Boxing is a Lying effen joke and
    2) he is yet further Proof, that Damn Near All TOP & Noted Fighters - GIVEN the Chance are Just as Capable of Winning a World Title.

Bring Back SPORT, just follow the Rules of Competition - Honest Wins & Elimination Bouts, followed by Title Fights - Win or Loss - then the SPORT of Boxing produces TRUE Champions and Honest History.

also Oust all of these Corrupt Pigs, "Simples".

I see what you're saying but I score the fight as I see it.

I gave Taylor the later rounds because I thought he won the rounds, pure and simple. Catterall eased off in the later rounds - possibly because he was tiring - and Taylor looked the stronger fighter in the last few rounds.

I'll watch it again and maybe I'll see it differently on a second viewing but I have no favourite or bias towards either fighter and tried to judge it accordingly.

The fact you've got Taylors name against a round you've scored 9-9 says it all

The fact you’ve got numpties trying to defend the scorecards sums up why nothing will change.

    Yes *puts tin hat on*

After round 8 I thought Catterall had a comfortable lead and should see it out but he just wanted to spoil and hold.

Will be an unpopular opinion on here but it’s just that, an opinion :)

Must admit, I've never sat and scored a fight round by round and do get caught up in the overall feel and momentum of it. But watching it back, I can see how someone might score it, round-by-round, that way.

I had a look at the certification rules for the 'ten-point must' system, assuming that's what was in place last night, and round-by-round I still wouldn't like to be in the judge's shoes.
    1. Clean punching (power versus quantity).
    2. Effective aggressiveness.
    3. Ring generalship.
    4. Defense
You could claim there weren't many clean punches and instinctively I'd have said Catt got most, but haven't sat and counted it. You could claim Taylor was more aggressive but "Determination should not be mistaken for aggressiveness" so that's a toss-up. Generalship you'd probably give to Catt but the referee kept warning him, so maybe it was illegitimate. Defence is broadly the same.

Within those definitions it's a lot closer than I would have thought at the time and definitely wouldn't like to judge or referee for a living.

After the dust has settled, I don't think you're too far off the mark.

I do believe Catterall won, but no denying he tried to spoil badly from rounds 8-9 onwards.
