With Josh Kelly's recent loss & Benn destroying Vargas, any chance of this fight happening in the near future? Anyone got any updates linked to it or is it completed done now? Would be a shame as I was looking forward to it and the rivalry was building up nicely.
Doubtful IMO, too much to lose for both guys and Eddie - Another bad loss for Josh and he's done. Conor is being built as the next PPV star on Eddie's roster although he's not quite at that level yet, a loss to Kelly would derail the plans big time Would love to see it happen though, excellent fight
When Benn gets his first loss I don't want it to be a narrow or controversial points one, which is the best Kelly could hope for. With that in mind I don't want to see fight, the time has passed for me, it might come again but Kelly doesn't appear to have a tank or a defence so I really don't know where his career is going at the moment.
Kelly early or Benn mid to late rounds. Until Kelly learns some of the basics of establishing a jab and inside fighting he gets beat here. Benn chops him down and stops him mid to late, he probably gets dropped early but weathers the storm. Kelly’s professional style doesn’t work at all to his strengths. He should be a jab and move fighter. He fights like a raid fighter/puncher but doesn’t have the punch or the reflexes to pull it off.
Very good fight. However I think making 147 is taking something away from Kelly and he's best moving up in weight
Yeah, I like the fight. I'm curious to see how Kelly gets on in his next fight. I've got a feeling his shattered confidence will take some rebuilding, I'm not sure if it ever will.
Clearly Matchroom have provided Benn with his script to build his hybrid Dull Boy Chisora/Tony Bellew persona to get him his ticket to Lootsville. The sad thing is that he may earn more in his career than Josh Taylor and he is not fit to lace his gloves.
Sounds a bit odd but this is actually one of the fights I was most looking forward to when it first started getting mentioned, ahead of a lot of much bigger fights on paper. I think it's a great match up, total clash of styles, great build up and would be very entertaining. I don't see any reason why it can't get made relatively easily, even if it's at a catch weight. Big domestic fight, boosts the winners profile, earns both of them a very good six figure purse..
Aren’t you basically admitting Benn’s promoter is doing his job very well while Josh Taylor’s is doing terribly? Think you’re on to something there Jurgen...
