Liam Dillon on now for British sf title. Interesting fact - he's fought all his 13 prior fights at York Hall.

 

Not seen Ashfaq in action since his loss to Marc Leach

 

Wasn't expecting to hear Costello on the mic tonight. At least we're not being treated to Diamante or Bellew as well.

good first round in Dillon-Ashfaq fight

 

Round 1: Dillon 10-9

Best fight of the card is on at 8:30pm which is disappointing. Seems to be a good atmosphere already in Newcastle.

I backed Dillon for the upset in this one.

Ashfaq starts off moving well and showing his clear technical advantages boxing out of the southpaw stance. Dillon is a come-forward fighter and will likely come on strong later on in the fight.

This could be whether the judges prefer Dillon’s come-forward style or Ashfaq’s cleaner but sparser work.

Close first round but Dillon landed several uppercuts towards the end. Ashfaq not moving his head.

He got dropped from 258 and Matchroom.

Better round from Ashfaq. Dillon struggled to close the distance in this round but did land some nice body shots.

This is shaping up to be a good fight. The slower pace suits Ashfaq. Don’t think he can keep this pace up though of moving around on the outside for the full 12 rounds. Ashfaq looks tired already.
