That loss to fickett has left a scar on Koscheck.I'm not sure he really believes he belongs in there with guys like Alves and Gsp.

Well, when a guy throws out his best aspect of fighting until its too late because hes been kicked and hit too many times, and too far behind, it makes sense that he didn't fight smart. It was like Jean Silva going for a leglock on Imanari, he let the opponent play his favorite game.

That being said, executing a gameplan is part of fighting, Alves did it perfectly, that made him the better fighter.

    Boy was I wrong.

In all fairness, I thought Koscheck fought a stupid fight. I know it sounds like a huge copout but trying to stand with a much superior striker while completely avoiding your biggest asset is NOT fighting smart. He needed to dictate his kind of fight right away. When he didnt, I knew Alves would win. Because you cant get beat up for 2 rounds and expect to have effective takedowns.

He tried to take him down on numerous occasions and was unsuccessful. Alves is the better fighter and would likely win a rematch as well barring something dramatic.

I'm not arguing that Alves is the better fight or not, but Kos didnt help himself trying to shoot for the takedown early to take out Alves's energy by GnP him. Not sure if Kos would had be able to take him down, but when Kos did tried, he didnt has all his explosiveness because of all Alves legkicks.
    props to alves though

The poll officially ended 21-13.Overall I respect the integrity of people not voting after the fight has ended.

    I agree.

But also, Kos had 2 weeks notice only.
