This guy is the best referee in MMA and deserves mad props for it. He seems to always give fighters the chances they need but he stops the fight the SECOND a fighter can no longer defend himself.
He errs on the side of risky which for us as fans is great. I think he did the Mir Carwin stoppage and Mir thanked Josh but said he was out a while before it was stopped.
I'll sign on. Brock made it back to his feet before the end of the 1st round, and went on to win. It's hard to argue with that. Lesnar wasn't limp while Carwin was pounding away. Lesnar was pushing Carwin off, occasionally trying to hit back, and covering up.
i thought it was a good call and I'm sure he was close to stopping it, good thing for Lesnar he moved some positions a bit just enough to let the ref know he wasn't out of it. There is nothing worse then a quick stoppage to a huge fight like this.
In general, fights shouldn't be pushed too far but in this case it's the championship and as the champion I think Brock should be given the benefit of the doubt. In fairness, Carwin looked devastating but actually wasn't being devastating. He wasn't landing repeatedly clean like he was versus Mir.
