He reminds me of a mini Calzaghe, great fighter and is tall/big at the weight too. Could he take down Mikey Garcia? I think he'd have a very good chance.
He should easily win a strap looking at the current wasteland of a landscape. Shot to **** Ricky Burns held a title there not that long ago and Julius Indongo was a unified champ. *after his last performance I now accept that Indongo is a glorified club fighter who got lucky in facing a glass jawed hype job and shot to **** and average in his prime several weights below anyway 'champ'.
I really think Taylor has all that's needed to go to the very top. Right now I'd still probably pick Mikey Garcia to beat him, with Taylor being a very live underdog who would pose a serious threat. As for the rest of the top dogs at 140lbs, there's nobody I wouldn't put him in with. Now I'm not saying I think Taylor definitely beats them all. There are some hard fights there, undoubtedly. Prograis, Ramirez, Lipinets, Baranchyk for example are all tough opponents, but Taylor would be as much of a threat and just as dangerous for them, as they are to him.
Taylor will definitely go a long way at 140 with the talent he has, but what happens when he fights a live fighter? Will his chin get cracked? Will he prove he can take a punch as good as he can give one? Hopefully we will find out soon enough, because he's got a load of hype behind him and appears to be the goods. Time will tell.
Who is going to test him at 140 at the minute? No-one at 140 looks up to much bar Mikey who has business to attend to south of the division.
Terry can be taken straight off that list. He's a fellow Brit but he don't want any of anyone with a pulse. The others are still slightly unknown quantities to me. They could just as likely be Bute's as they could Wards and Frochs.
Still, there's still some competition there, its just lacking star power at the moment. Taylor has skills but like I said once he steps up well see where he stands. I like him though, he has a lot of potential.
