Josh Taylor: I Rewatched Fight And Still Won; Willing To Rematch Catarall At 147...

I keep reading this - that Catterall threw significantly more punches - but that simply isn't true. It seems to be some sort of internet myth that has perpetuated itself because it's not what I seen.

Catterall definitely never won the opening eight rounds. After five rounds, I had Taylor up by one round. Some rounds were very close but some were not. Taylor won the seventh round, for example, at a canter. After the knock down in round eight, Taylor won every round thereafter with the ninth being the closest.

I don't want to discredit Catterall because I thought he fought incredibly well. He has taken some criticism for clinching but defending yourself in the ring is allowed. I just cannot tolerate the bias being shown towards him when he clearly never won the bout.

No boxer would ever admit defeat, theres too much pride involved for someone as confident as Josh Taylor to do so. So im not surprised that he thought he won mother****ers.

It's hard for Taylor to admit he got soundly defeated by an Englishman on his own soil… I understand it… the old enemy.. pride.. But I don't think I've ever seen such one-sided punch stats in favour of the LOSER in any world Title fight I personally can remember.. every round but one Catterall outlanded him , that speaks volumes.. Taylor's output was paltry and completely out of character… in all honesty giving Josh any more than four rounds is a stretch .. I'm a huge fan of Josh but he was soundly beaten that night and I'm not convinced he'll be any better at 147.. I think it's down to his trainer , inactivity & getting comfortable with all the plaudits .. ego & complacency.. I don't get the hype around Davison look at fury V wallin and now Taylor V Catterall.. Haney isn't exactly coming on leaps and bounds either.. i'd forget the weight thing and have a long hard think about your team first .. get back to what you did best

 

Wasn't that eye a mess after the Prograis fight? Or some other fight?

The skin around the eye may be so damaged it's irreparable. Imagine what Crawford would do to that eye; he's mean enough to target it from the opening bell.
