For those who didn't watch tonight's epic showdown between Josh Taylor vs Ohara Davies then I suggest you go watch. The fight was a firecracker.

Billed as a 50/50 fight between two undefeated world class prospects, Taylor showed his class along with the rare combination of both speed and power. He also has top notch defence, ring IQ and most importantly a CHIN. He matched the very heavy-handed OD on the inside which nobody who knew the fighters could have predicted.

The guy is a massive LWW @ 5"11 and although it's probably too soon to put him in with Crawford now, that has to be the aim for 2018 as long as Bud stays at 140.

    Thoughts?

Dude looked legit, outstanding bodywork, very accurate and his punches have some dig on them, He also didn't seem to get tired despite a a solid pace and throwing heavy leather.

I this he UD's Burns next. Very good fighter. Quick, intelligent, athletic, mixes up to the head & body well, crisp puncher. Guided well he'll be world class & able to mix it at world level. Way better than Burns. Davis is ****. Gutsy but ****.

Crawford beats him easily. Even though Taylor is seemingly the goods and has good amateur pedigree i still see he's wide open to Crawford's hook and jab to the body.

Ohara is just unrefined and lacks the experience. Plus he's much slower than Crawford and doesn't have elite timing and reflexes like Crawford has.

    Logic beat hype.

Let him progress, develop & get more experience first. How's it hype? It's discussion...

Beats Crawford? No. No way can we say that yet.

I wish people wouldn't call 'potential' hype! No one knows the kid hardly. It's fine to speculate tho. Just don't over do it.

I meant Taylor vs Ohara. Logic beat hype.

Yes, he will improve. I think Taylor's defense and experience puts him in good stead to improve fairly quickly with the right opponents.

Oh ok. Burns next. He'll win too. Never rated Burns much. Over achiever in some ways. B level fighter for me. Nice to have another good prospect on our hands here tho.

I think Taylor has the style and tools to beat Crawford.

Again this is just speculation at the moment but we're all armchair fans here who come to give our take. Burns was able to hit Crawford and had succeeds early on, Gamboa was able to land combos on Crawford. Both Gamboa and Taylor are very fast guys. Where Gamboa failed was his lack of size and strength which Taylor would have the advantage in if he faced Crawford.

It's really early to call I agree, but I think Taylor has the tools if developed properly.

    Interested to hear @CST80 , @Pimp C , @ellerbe on this.

Currently he just seems to need more experience in the pro game. I was impressed with his defense and i think he could've possibly finished ohara much earlier.

I think Crawford vs Gamboa was another learning fight for Crawford and he didn't really respect Gamboa given his size.

I think the Burns fight is only natural and he'd beat Burns comfortably. I'm not sure he can really learn much from that fight as it's just a ticket seller.

I'd like to see him fight Barthelemy a couple of fights down the line once he beats Burns and Catterall. He'd beat Barthelemy and it's a very winnable fight though i'm not sure about his org ranking.

Really? I mean he could be world class but we don't know yet, this was a UK dust up, both Davis and Taylor haven't beaten anyone of note.

I don't know if he's ready for Bud yet, but after today's brilliant performance Josh Taylor will be one of the kingpins of 140 & 147 as soon as he's ready for his title shot. This is the most impressed I've been with a prospect in ages, after a couple more seasoning fights, I don't think I would favor anyone against him from 140-147. Genuinely impressed with this kids skill and what appears to be the all-around package, and I'm excited to watch this kids future in the ring play out. This American has a knew fighter to add to my favorites list.
