Josh Taylor born 01-02-1991 is a 5'10 Light Welterweight with a 11-0 10 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Josh Taylor in my never humble opinion is one of the brightest lights of British Boxing, or should I say Scottish Boxing. Taylor who got his start in taekwondo started boxing at 15 he made it to the 2012 Olympics at Lightweight beating Conceicao, but was eliminated by Domenico Valentino which is probably for he best, since he would lost to Lomachenko anyway. He went on win Gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and fought for the British Lionhearts in the WSB before turning pro in 2015. He signed with Barry McGuigan started training with Shane McGuigan and has sparred with and is a stable mate of Carl Frampton, Barry is over the moon in regards to Josh, he thinks the sky is the limit, and might be right. Thus far since turning pro he's carved through the competition like a hot knife through butter, making easy work of the usually very durable Dave Ryan taking him out in 5, his only non stoppage victory thus far was against Alfonso Olvera in his US debut, but that's no big deal since the very heavy handed Ivan Baranchyk and Cowboy Ryan Karl couldn't take him out either. His first big step up came against the highly touted Ohara Davies, and not for one second did I think Ohara stood a chance against Taylor, and I was proven 100% right. Josh systematically dismantled the heavy handed favorite with relative ease winning basically every round of the fight dropping Davies twice and making him quit, it was a masterclass and a breakout performance. He has excellent timing, excellent counters, very solid jab and hooks, control of range, punch placement, use of angles, footwork, power and also seems to have a solid chin, he's pretty close to the total package. So please do yourselves a favor and check out the absolutely brilliant Scottish Cyclone in Action.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

I'm still annoyed I didn't do this thread a year ago before the Davies win.:D But I've been off my game for the last year, too preoccupied with RBR's to do enough of these. But I can still manage to get one in here and there, I'm going to been unloading quite a few more of these in the upcoming months.

I really wish he'd called himself the Tartan Spartan as that would a been one of the most memorable monikers in the game.

I think he was actually favourite against OD so he didn't beat the favourite as you say but yes he looks very good, just hope he becomes slightly more likeable - potential world champion for sure.

Yeah he was actually the heavy favorite. I thought it was 50/50 but it proves that the house usually knows what they're doing. I've rarely seen either fight though to be fair to myself.

I rarely check official odds, because I genuinely don't care, I was mainly referring to the popular opinion on here, where Ohara was the clear favorite.

I'll add thoughts on Taylor later, he should be back out October/November but now confirmed it won't be VS Ricky Burns who will fight Anthony Crolla at 135 in Manchester. Pity, Ricky apparently couldn't make 135 anymore. Last big payday I suppose,

Huge talent. If he continues to progress the way he has then the sky is the limit and some mouth watering fights in store for us Scottish fans.

Kid's the goods. There's going to be a void at 140 once Bud beats Indongo and moves up, and I think Taylor's the best bet to fill it.

He sparred Shawn Porter a while back and is supposed to have given a very good account of himself.
