Top rank might have put pressure on him to stay put at 140 they will want their moneys worth and there’s bigger in house fights they can make.
He's ducking Catterall massively here. I don't mean in terms of taking easier options which Zepeda certainly isn't but him or whoever is guiding him is cacking it in case Catterall has his number again. The right thing to do would have been to vacate and let Catterall fight for the vacant title at the very least. I can only assume that the weight draining excuse wasn't as big as they made out.
I don’t think Taylor can choose who fights for vacant WBA titles mate. They have rankings for a reason. The WBC mandatory was next in line to be called followed by the IBF but the WBA ordered their fight ahead of schedule. You’d think the sport would want undisputed champions but they seem to try their hardest to mess it up.
If Taylor fights at 140 again and it's not Catterell then he is a fraud. Only reason to do that is TR putting him in the ring with 1 of there own as they belive he is done
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman dissapointed that WBA ignoring other sanctioning bodies decision: "We reached agreement that Josh Taylor will defend his titles against Catterall [WBO], Zepeda [WBC] & then IBF. However WBA ignored that and sanctioned title defense vs Puello [1/3]" "And they made purse bid with single promoter with ridiculously low price fund $200K. Taylor already earned million dollars, but they forced him to fight for $120K. It's shame [2/3]" "WBA did the same thing when WBC already sanctioned trilogy between Juan Estrada and Roman Gonzalez [teams almost reached all agreements]. But they again forcing Estrada to defend title [vs Joshua Franco] with prize fund $120K! Instead of making megafight with Gonzalez [3/3]"
This is a brilliant fight But also a bad look for Taylor. Says he is weight drained at 140 but then takes another fight at 140 ? I can't say that Josh Taylor is a ducker because look who he's fought inside 20 fights whilst becoming undisputed champion. BUT he has to rematch Catterall otherwise it is a huge black mark on his career.
This post makes sense!! Taylor has always been the same person, what you mean is I used to be a fan of Taylor until he lost
The depth of Taylor's resume is special .. admittedly I think he lost to Catterall but overall you've got to admit that's a hell of a run.. Zepeda Caterall Khongsong Ramirez Prograis Baranchyk Martin Postol Vasquez Davies All in just 20 fights and seven years as a professional
He looked very Sloppy against Jack so I would leave 140 and offer Jack the rematch at 147. He looked very dry on the scales.
