Got the weight wrong. Started his weight cut late because of covid and the knee injury. Think he'll make it much better this time around.
If he can still make 140 the only thing he should be doing is giving Catteral a rematch after that injustice.
Shane McGuigan recently said in an interview that he must've got the weight cut wrong because he is a career 140. When he first turned over they actually contemplated doing so at 135 but decided to go for 140 as he'd grow into the weight from the off. As one of the last posters mentioned, it makes sense to me that given the knee injury that initially postponed the fight he's ****ed the weight cut up.
Where would y'all rank Taylor in the history of 140 fighters? Say he beats Zepeda & sort of gets back in the swing at 140.. He's gotta be right up there..
high resume. pryor needed arguello to come up to get a legacy at 140lbs, his resume other than cervantes isnt that good.
There could be many reasons for this, governing bodies and promotional companies likely the main drivers behind who Taylor fights. I’m sure he will fight catterall next and hopefully leather him all over the shop. Not because I dislike him it’s just his insufferable fans moaning like it’s the worst robbery in history, pathetic. catterall didn’t take the fight to the champ, held and spoiled and frustrated all night. Did he win? Maybe but not by much if at all.
Finally a bit of sense. When you’re the undisputed the mandatories rack up. He’s already had to vacate one belt, can’t expect him to vacate anymore just to give Catterall a rematch. The rematch will happen in the next 12 months and I fully expect Taylor to win. I agree on if Catterall did win it was by a round or so - people were going on like it was a 12 round shutout. Could name dozens and dozens of worse decisions.
Ricky Hatton saying the result was one of the worst he had seen, I reminded him on Instagram of his sons questionable decision the other month, he didn’t reply.
Bandwagon jumpers mate. My mate was talking about the ‘robbery’ a few weeks later and I know for a fact he didn’t watch it (or a repeat).
Most on Facebook think he won 10 rounds!! The old saying being “what do the judges see” my answer is holding, spoiling, giving away the last 4-5 rounds. JT was terrible that night but catterall didn’t do enough for me to really take the fight. Did he win it? Maybe but by a point or two at best depending on how you score fights. I’d rather see catterall look at his next fight yet he seems to still be moaning about the result. funny how opinions change on a fighter even on this forum. JT went from being regarded as one of the best Brit’s ever to becomings hype job overnight. Average on this forum must be 11.
