Josh Taylor vs. Viktor Postol & Martin Bakole Ilunga vs. DL Jones RBR.

Apologies mate, I couldn't make out what you were getting at. At work and cranky. Anyway, on Crawford/Taylor/Postol triangle. Taylor will finish a great fighter, not an ATG or anything but for today's time and 140 division I think he'll be the real deal.

But Crawford has so many facets and layers to his game it is unreal. I watched some of Postol-Crawford today, only got through 3-4 rounds but Crawford makes no mistakes (in comparison to others) and always appears so relaxed in there, his decision making is fantastic.

Postol impressed me last night. It's funny, I've never taken to the upright Euro style as I think it's limited and open to too many styles, & difficult to improvise outside your own comfort zone & always thought it would be easy to crowd & smother that style. I wonder how Ricky Hatton for example would have got on VS Postol.

What I mean is, you can LOOK limited or mechanical, Taylor has the feints, rolls from the hips, changes stances, inside game etc but when pure fundamentals are used correctly, it can be difficult to beat. And that's why I give FULL credit to Bud Crawford because I can't think of any recent 140's who would come close to schooling him they way he did.

It's why I hate Taylor/Crawford comparison (yes, there are some) because Crawford is legit special, I really believe that. Taylor will be a very, very good world champ. But Crawford has evolved so much.

And cards on the table, I was never blown away with Crawford's performance VS Ricky Burns. I thought he could have gone through the gears sooner, it was 5-6 rounds of a chess match with a guy with no real pop, a good jab & a straight right who had just had a jaw re constructed(Beltran) but who is nowhere near as technically competent as Postol. I don't think Bud looked all that VS Burns but he's evolved really well considering what he done to Postol, which in being more impressive made Postol look worse. Reality, he's a class or two above Burns.

Jeez, D.L. Jones crumbled like an empty soda can being stepped on by an elephant.

Bakole looked a beast, once again, but I doubt this fight either tells us anything new about him, nor gives him any valuable learning experience.

I am a big Josh Taylor fan but gotta say those scorecards were a disgrace and ruined what was a great night for boxing and a great win for Taylor. I think ppl never gave postol the respect he deserves and he showed he is a top fighter at 140. For Taylor to beat him in his 13th fight is quite an achievement and hopefully he can iron out his mistakes and clean up the 140 division. Once Taylor beats Ramirez (not easy I know) hopefully a super fight with prograis can be madeor if lomachenko decides to jump up in weight again we could see Taylor fighthim.

 

As for the ppl saying he won't ever challenge Crawford. He just beat a guy who is one of Crawford's best wins in only his 13th fight. That is a massive statement and anyone who denies that is simply not being honest with themselves. Taylor needs to work on his flaws but I am confident he defeats any of the current guys at 140.

 

things are looking up for mikeys future, taylor vs prograis should set up a juicy fight for mikey as he makes his way back up after unifying 135. unify 140 and step into a title shot at 147.
