Why didn't hearn hold off announcing the sky ppv surely the winner of Del Boy pulev would of been a much better opponent. Riskier maybe but he needs tougher fights simple as that. Does anyone know if this was even discussed? Hearn has a good relationship with the German promotors aswell. There fight took place 7 weeks before June 25th so aslong as the winner didn't get bashed up(in this case pulev won and looks fine) another fight 7 weeks later would of been easily set up. Have a a week or two rest for pulev then back in the gym getting ready. Hearn should of done this and used this big idiot josh is fighting from the states as a back up plan only incase pulev or chisora got injured. Seems a waste of a good opportunity instead we get to watch the build for weeks for a fight that will last 3 rounds max
With the SHO deal in mind it probably made business sense to fight an American prospect instead of a Bulgarian fella
Defo not a foregone conclusion that AJ wins this in my opinion. Risky fight but hats off to them cos if he wins this then he is good enough to mix it at the top.
Yes maybe but it's not like this Dominic guy is a name in the states surely fighting someone who has been in the ring with klitschko etc would do more for his reputation stateside than blowing a burger bum away, American or not. I hope im wrong but get the feeling they just went for the easier option
It's not a forgone conclusion about which fight? Pulev or the yank? Pulev fights not happening mate that's the point of the thread and the yank fight is a forgone conclusion 100%
Josh needs a pulev type fight before he gets in with fury or anyone remotely close to that standard or the wheels will come off quicky on this hype train
Nah man, an unbeaten US Olympian (no matter how poor he did) is always going to be more a draw in the States then a Klit victi mwho has never fought there
Sorry thought the Pulev fight was announced thanks for putting me right and yep yank fight waste of time. Got a feeling AJ will end up on such a pedestal before he fights anyone decent that he will have a huge fall almost a Bruno story waiting to be repeated.
aj will have to fight the winner of parker/takam next neither are big stateside, is that fight a tough sell for showtime?
I always thought the plan would be to fight Breazeale then Pulev then Takam in a mando anyway. Can still see it happening
Pulev is too much of a risky fight. Hearn is protecting Joshua and that's why his first defense is against Breazeale.
