After his powerhouse win over Carl Frampton we all rushed to shower Josh with well deserved praise. Quite rightly. He deserved it. Just to play devils advocate for a while though it could be argued that Josh is only 2-2 in his last 4 significant fights. (Forget Ceylan). Many feel he lost (narrowly) to both Kiko and KG. (That's a has-been Kiko and a never-was KG!). Was he just a bit lucky against Lee and Carl? Lee was a weight drained zombie, and Carl underperformed, plus never fully recovered from a disastrous start. That frampton fight just might have flattered Josh a bit perhaps? Thoughts?

Fair point. Carl was well past it and small at the weight. World class fighter obviously but not at the peak of his powers. Great timing for Josh. As Champ you will always get favorable decisions at home, I thought KG outsmarted him but ultimately didn't do enough. He was not positive enough too negative. IMO opinion any of the other current champs will stand Josh on his head. Valdez, LSC, Russell Jnr. All a class above him.

Completely agree, I've been saying it all along. He is still nowhere near as good as some are making him out. In my opinion, He gets beat handily by Santa Cruz, Valdez, Russell Jr and Stevenson is a ridiculous talent so he could quite easily make that step up.

I also felt he won the first Galahad fight but if they were to rematch I would favour kid.

I forgot about Stevenson. He would box the heck out of Josh. He is a spiteful kid as well.

I thought Selby would outbox him. Then I thought, Selby was a zombie at the weight and that excuses the performance.

I thought Frampton would punish his attacks and bust him up over 8 rounds. Frampton looked great in his fights prior to Warrington, he looked sharp and strong, and seemed to have better stamina down the stretch. Is he peak? No, but he still has more than enough about him to considered top level. But upon mature reflection, I think Frampton's tactics, and possibly his arrogance made the fight easy for Josh.

But, I've learned my lesson about writing Warrington off. He is so strong and so tenacious that he'll be a handful for anyone and I stand by that. I think the Santa Cruz and Valdez fights are fights for the ages. They both might edge him, sure, but I still believe Warrington makes a real fight of it.

I was saying at the time he was getting massively overrated. Frampton is washed up he's done. People took way too much from that win.

If he ever went up vs the top 3 it'll be a bad, bad day for him. I got called a hater for saying it but I'm just being real. He's a plucky fighter but hugely limited. I don't rate Gary Russell as highly as some but Jesus he'd probably break the punches landed record on warrington

I think you’ve got a point. It’s telling that Selby moved up several divisions (and rising) after that fight. Shows what state he must’ve been in.

Josh is world class.Galahad is crafty and underrated, selby is overrated, carl hasn't the same hunger and to small for the weight, grj and lsc would be a tall order for josh but I'd give him a chance against Valdez.

Let's not discredit his wins, deserved both.

The reality is though he caught Selby and Frampton off guard with his flurrying attacks.
Frampton tried to trade with the bigger stronger fighter thinking he was a light puncher, didnt need too. Selby just genuinely didnt seem to expect the intensity.

Frampton fought totally the wrong fight though and had a mountain to climb after the first 3 rounds.

What people have realised is, Josh's biggest strength is his work-rate and relentlessness. What Galahad showed is if you shut him down from working up close, he is a good boxer but not a great one, I mean that on the technical side of things.

Galahad did the perfect gameplan, stop him from working and carrying out his flurries, tie and hold him up. Was able to out fox him for most of the fight, he lost due to a lack of work.

If you let Warrington work or flurry and try to have a fire-fight with him you'll likely come off second best.

So its the Galahad way but not as much holding and being a sound technical boxer.

Only other style of fighter will be one who has a lot of power, that will make Warrington think twice before launching a relentless attack. So far he's fought at the top level guys with very little power at the weight, so he's had no issues.

If people dont adapt to him and be doesn't come across a murderous puncher then he will likely win imo.

Galahad was all wrong for him and he was too wound up...

I have never been a fan until last couple of years and i think he gives all the top fellas at the weight 12 hard rounds...

I never saw the Kiko fight. Galahad, I thought he eeked out but could see a draw or a narrow one the other way. Galahad was giving him real problems early on with nimple footwork and pot shots, but the more it went on, the more it descended into holding, maulling and simply trying to stop Warrington's attacks via any means possible.

Think Selby was clearly struggling at the weight and has been lackustre for a while but I didn't think Warrington could step up like that. And nobody has done what he did to Frampton. I would give him a decent shot against LSC. I think the fighters he will struggle against are either guys who are happy to stand and fight, but can beat him for power (Valdez) or guys with the boxing skills to keep him guessing without resorting to some of the stuff KG did (Russell). But I wouldn't write him off either. Galahad was a bad night against a horrible opponent.

Selby was vastly overrated based on a decent performance against Gradovich (very weak world champ)

Then signed with Haymon and was getting battered around the ring by fringe world level Mexican contenders.

Over 2 years after and relative inactivity, Warrington fights him. By then he is fully past his peak and Euro level at that point.

Stylistically it would be a barmstormer.
