josh warrington performance

That was a good learning fight for josh against a fringe world lvl operater. I was ringside and amagasa is 1 of those guys were you have to be up close to understand how much power the guy has. He uses weight behind them levers well. From rd1 he was using momentum techniques such as single and double shifts effectivly. Hes very unorthadox for any fighter but especially a british fighter. Thats why he has a decent k.o rate for a fw. Amagasa could share a ring with any of the champs and be competative he wouldnt beat them but he would hold his own.
I know this aint going to happen but does anyone think selby would of faired any better i dont.
Like i said it was a good learning fight for josh. Hes still a work in progress his ring generalmanship could of been a bit better he let ama off the ropes a few times when all he had to do was step over. He still needs to work more on his power. His angle work wasnt too bad but room for improvement.
The combination punching from josh was good but i would like to see more lead and backhand uppercuts been used he did throw some but id like to see a little more variety in his mid and short range shots.
Joshs movement around the ring is decent and he ducks whilst moving good.
Im happy with his win last night josh has shown hes a good euro lvl fighter and a work in progress. I still think he bests selby but non if the others inc valdez and diaz.

 

Very good performance

 

He fought the skinniest guy ever seen in the boxing ring and was troubled by body shots and uppercuts. He has no power whatsoever. British level fighter.

gatti was considered a puncher and stopped some good fighters, he may not have been a great boxer but he was a good brawler and fun to watch and he could bang

 

British level is about the same as European level. It would be difficult for him to beat anyone abroad because he has no power. You know how it goes in scoring.

 

Absurd to say that Gatti wasn't a big puncher. He was more than a big puncher. He had one-punch knockout power and almost perfect punching technique. A merely solid puncher wouldn't do what Gatti did to Rodriguez, Ruelas, Gamache, Millett, and simply most fighters he stepped into the ring with.

 

Being realistic, he's probably fringe world level. He can take a shot and will give most in the division something to think about, with his work rate alone.

I don't think he'll win a world title, but he'll have some good match ups in his career.

 

So your saying the European tile is the same level as British title. His won British title moved on been matched at European level won and is now fringe world level. Is he good enough to be at world level is unknown but he is Deffo above British title level

 

I agree with most of this post. He will b a tough night for anyone but is he good enough to win a world title is unknown.

 

His lack of power is obviously what lets him down most and he's done much better than I thought he would. Now, whether or not he can make the step up again I don't know. I'd say not.

Terry Marsh surprised people though and he wasn't a puncher either.

I agree im not sure why one poster compared warrington and gatti and said gatti lacked power. Gattis power is what got him out of trouble a number times

 

The fact is Selby would stand the kid on his head.
