His usual sharpness and speed were missing though. So maybe he did age overnight. Only subsequent fights will tell us that. If it was just mindset then he'll recover. The problem with Warrington is that in order to succeed he has to be perfectly fit and 100% sharp. He doesn't have the punch, the skills, or the defense to get away with anything less. He has no margin of error. Also maybe he was overrated, and maybe he did get lucky catching the right two fighters, Frampton & Selby at just the right time. We shall see.

    Nah, I don't think it's a case of aging overnight at all. Just a factor of a few things;

    - Inactivity
    - Complacency / no fans
    - Lara can bang

Normally when we see Warrington he sets a real high pace from the get go.... from the opening bell on the weekend he just seemed lethargic and not setting any sort of tempo.

Also in that first round Lara through a left hook that just missed Warrington by millimetres and I do think he thought "holy ****" to himself as it whizzed by.

But going back to your initial comment on aging a fighter.... that fight would have been the equivalent to 3 or 4 fights and would have definitely put miles on his clock.

Do you think he would beat him in a immediate rematch or after another fight?

Reason I ask.. Warrington took a real beating, damaged his jaw, damaged shoulder, damaged ear drum, he will be out for another 5-6 months, so if they rematch next that could be nearly two years out the ring and coming off his first defeat (we don't know how he will react to that).

Warrington is in a really horrible position, if he comes back and loses an immediate rematch then it's over really, if he takes another fight and goes another way, then the Lara question will always be there and people will bang on about a rematch.

I have a feeling Hearn who has options on Lara will try and match him hard, hope he gets beat to dampen the calls for a rematch and move Warrington in another direction.

I don't think an immediate rematch is the right way to play this one.

Given just how much of a beating he took plus his inactivity, I think he should be healing up and then take a "gimme" fight just to dust the cobwebs off, get some confidence and also gain some trust in his suspected broken jaw.

He'll clearly be revved up for a rematch and much more "up for it" than he would've been on the weekend so that's a good start but for someone who feeds off the crowd its probably a fight that would be better when he does have the noise behind him.

The “normal” high tempo josh beats Lara. When he was in close throwing punches he was getting the better of Lara. But if josh has lost his high tempo work rate he is in real trouble....and not just against Lara.
You see and no disrespect but josh doesn’t do anything pparticularly well. He is an ordinary fighter, that does an extraordinary number of ordinary things at an extraordinary pace. He cannot afford to slow down, not even a little bit. I’ve a horrible feeling it could be all over for the very likeable Josh.

    Good post, I agree.

If they do have the rematch then yeah.. wait until crowds are back and get the rematch in Leeds.. I think that's the only way to do it.

Ouch. Guess Lara can really swat. Glad to hear Warrington didn't sustain more damage and was able to be released. Best wishes for the speedy recovery.

There might be more to it, but:

FFS, the issue isn´t about the damn outcome. It´s about how wide the damn scorecards were!

"I thought he won by two points." Then WHY THE **** DID TWO JUDGES GIVE KIKO ONLY 2 ROUNDS?

BBBofC once again being absolutely shameless.
