Takam was a midget on a week’s notice and Joshua stank the joint out.

Joshua barely landed a power punch on Parker.

What are the casuals seeing here? If those two performances came from Bellew or Brook people would be screaming at Eddie to take them off Sky.

I've seen parkers last 4 or 5 fights. None of them were exciting fights

Hardly lost a round against Takkam, who he hadnt trained to face and won between 7 and 9 rounds last night against an unbeaten world champion and at no moment in either fight did he really look in big trouble. Yes that is terrible.

He has stepped up he class here, he is now fighting at the very top level, he may get overhyped by some but he is achieving plenty here. You cant be expecting him to be steamrolling the top boys like he did in his early fights, unless you soak up the mush the tabloids feed you about how amazing he is ofcourse.

Right then you realize Bermaine Stiverne was better than either Parker or Takam because at least he could punch.

I don't think you understand what the term midget means. If 6'1 1/2 - 6'2 is a midget compared to the 6'5 Joshua then Joshua is a midget compared to Julius Long.

But in any case AJ has never looked impressive. He has yet to fight somebody who wasn't either a bumb or just old. His best wins so far in his career were against 60 year old timid Wlad in a fight AJ almost got knocked out in and against Charles Martin a 3rd rate hack fighter.

Carlos Takam was stopped quick by the ref to keep AJ's "knockout" streak alive and of course against Joseph Parker a fat limited skilled guy he fought one of the most boring heavyweight title fights in boxing history (besides Fury vs Wlad).

My position on Joshua was cemented 12-18 months into his career as a professional, i.e. somewhere between his carrying Konstantin Airich into the 3rd before blowing him out (just to say he'd done three rounds for the first time) and dealing with Kevin Johnson inside the distance (which nobody else had been able to do, much less so quickly and ruthlessly). At that point, I'd seen enough to identify him as a guy who would soon be able to beat most everyone who might pass for world class in this heavyweight era, an estimation that included KTFO'ing Wladimir Klitschko (though I didn't necessarily expect them to end up meeting).

There will always be highly durable or contrary foes who can limit an offensive fighter to a more modest degree of success than he's accustomed to, but it's a solid operator who can grind out a functional result when his usual impact is curtailed. We've seen many a banger lost at sea when that play was taken away from them.

So, while he hasn't been spectacular in his last two bouts (heck, the Parker fight was almost bound to be a largely cagey affair), he won both contests clearly and I saw nothing to change my opinion of Joshua. He is as good as I thought he would be by this point, no better and no worse. Fury was the guy I expected would rule, he's still my pick of the division until I witness evidence of decline upon his comeback, and I give an edge to Wilder in a feisty matchup with AJ. With that said, there are three guys currently harboring credible aims of establishing themselves as the undisputed HW boss anytime soon, and Anthony Joshua is one of them. From a purely sporting perspective, regarding the work he's gotten done thus far, it's churlish to knock him, whether any of us likes him or not.

Completely shut out Takam who went life and death with Parker and Pedvetkin. Parker considered in top 3 world wide and doesn't have a sniff against AJ.

But yeah AJ has been terrible :risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3:

ATG Heavyweight's lived off performances like the one Joshua made.

    Wlad?
    Lewis?
    Ali?

Usyk, the guy who will 'dominate' the division when he moves up only managed a MD in a very even fight with Briedis.

Joshua schools Parker but is 'terrible'.

I'll concede this.....As a viewer, terribly boring, but terribly effective.

They were not terrible performances, they just weren't exciting performances.

He dominated both Takam and Parker, he just wasn't able to finish them off in style.
