The whole AJ myth got vapourised in there last night. A lot of keen eyed boxing fans never bought into the outlandish hype in the first place anyway, but evidently a lot did.

AJ is a decent enough heavy, a top twenty top thirty type guy with a decent jab, a solid one two, above average power, and short burst explosiveness which can take out plodders in some style.

this meant with the right matchmaking against shot old fat midgets, and a carefully crafted promotional narrative, he was able to build a highlight reel of kos and a PREMIUM PPV BRAND outside of the ring.

HOWEVER inside the ring he has consistently avoided the top two, has a glass jaw, zero backfoot game and the gastank of a circus strongman. Hell of a misalignment. I believe this stark misalignment between the man AJ and the product AJ has been at the root of his in ring lack of self belief, he hasn’t been allowed to find out WHO HE IS.

The PREMIUM product Joshua is done now, even the Hearns 24/7 YouTube narrative machine can’t spin out of this one, the customers have awoken from their slumber and are rubbing their eyes saying “wtf did I just witness”

Joshua the fighter now has NOTHING to lose, he has a unique opportunity here to let go of all the cynically scripted bullsht narrative and enjoy the last phase of his career just doing and saying whatever he likes. Rip off all the shiny packaging, let go of the 258 matchroom SCRIPT and be the man you want to be.

It would release all that pressure on those big stiff benched up shoulders to say “the right thing”, come across in “the right way”, constantly checking himself how to “think feel and act”. Might even find himself a gastank to go twelve at pace in the process.

He needs to take a long hard look with new eyes at his team of parasites, who have never allowed him to be himself, instead relentlessly moulding him into this oddly detached marketing creation who speaks in soundbites and knocks out bums, sells lynx and ppvs but has never won a 50:50 his whole career.

This could be the greatest heel turn in boxing history, in a few minutes on Saturday night AJ totally obliterated the carefully scripted image his team have built for him for so long. There’s no going back, no one can now believe the scripted AJ was ever real, we all want to see the AJ who is allowed the mic, freestyle AJ, off the cuff yo.

I want to see this guy in with Ruiz III to prove he can knock out a little fat man. No running scared, no excuses. Redemption for all the “concussion” bullsht narrative. Put them to bed. Knock this guy out, put those demons to rest.

then he needs to settle the score with two armed whyteleafe. The one armed green version gave him a wobble last time out, now whyteleafe has discovered his southpaw side, another 1-1 to settle.

Then I want to see him in the ring with Wilder. Win lose or draw, nowhere to hide from all the “negotiations koogs” excuses. Heel turn AJ stands some chance against wilder. Could be a modern day classic.

THE REAL AJ has a small window of time here to STAND UP before Hearns and co try to airbrush this one from history and lead him down the same old path.

opportunity knocks big man, what’s it to be?

Get rid of the entourage and the scripted nonsense and get active. Show us some of that aggression from the ring Saturday night and some of that street fighter attitude you claim to have had. Get some winnable fights against big names pencilled in – I’m talking Whyte, Ruiz, Miller etc. All 3 have history. Forget the philosophical bollocks and all this about proving he’s a real boxer and start having a fooking scrap.

"a top twenty top thirty type guy"

The write up is funny and largely true but come on lol. There aren't 10 HW's in the division who would likely beat AJ, let alone 20-30. He's a cut above the Whyte's and the Parker's.

Any of these second tier guys can beat each other on any given night, but will lose to the top guys.

I'm calling it now, its time to wheel out Big Pricey, lets see if Joshua can get past him. He's already slayed Dave Allen, lets see if he can finish off another Matchroom favourite.

Even if Big Pricey falls short, he can teach Joshua a thing or too about dignity in defeat.

    Its win/win for Joshua.

    Maybe.

He respected Dubois' power by jabbing his face off, keeping him at bay. He'll try to do the same against the four you just mentioned.

Now the mask has slipped I reckon he should forget the fake nice guy persona, get a mohawk and become the next Clubber Lang. Forget the sweet science and just be an out and thug swinging until he gasses....basically become a three round fighter.

In the 80s he’s outside top 20 and in the 90s outside top 10.

But today the div is dead

Over a 12 round fight he will make you work hard and if you don't get him out of there in the first half it will get interesting.

He's still number 3 in the divison, or number 4 if you are a wilder fanboy. back in the golden age the best fighters would lose against each other all the time. It doesn't mean they should be completley written off, retire or be forgotten. we could well see AJ become a belt holder again, once the belts are unfied (if usyk fury happens) I cant see either staying active and defending it for long , probably will just retire soon afterwards

in that case the belts are available again and AJ can mop up against pretty much everybody else (bar a tough to call fight with wilder)
