So, Hunter nearly shuts out a guy who completely outperformed Miller against a Wach, yet he gets wasted? I don’t think so. And I believe that Doing “ok”against Usyk is probably about as much as most heavyweights outside a of very select few can hope for. Obviously yeah we all want to see the Usyk, Wilder, and Fury fights, but they’re not feasible under the circumstances.

Ortiz or Kownacki. Happy with both, and if they were looking for a like-for-like heavy handed jello jiggler then they got to go with Kownacki.

In terms of who has the best chance to win, I think Ortiz tops the list.

None of them are going to win a decision. It's just a matter of who might win by stoppage. That's Ortiz.

Kownacki is a fun fighter. He throws a lot. He can win rounds against anyone. He's got a fun personality. But as soon as Joshua starts unloading on his very white flab, I think he pops like a grape.

Charr can't outpoint or outpunch Joshua and he probably has the worst chin of the bunch. And he's the slowest of the pack. I can't believe his name was even mentioned. It's basically a murder. But people do slow down for murders and car wrecks. And the fastest KO in heavyweight title history might garner a couple headlines.

Hunter probably has the best shot at getting the fight, given his ties with Matchroom, but it would be the stinker of the bunch. Either Joshua walks to the center of the ring and stops him 90 seconds in, or Hunter runs, grabs, gets tossed down, falls down, pecks, stumbles and basically just spoils his way through a couple rounds. There won't be anything remotely impressive about it. It'll just give the announcers enough time to talk about how awful it is.

Hope it's Ortiz. But I'm not holding my breath.

It should be Dillian Whyte and no one else. Ortiz would be acceptable, but not the others.

Is Michael Hunter that bad a call? There are reasons I can see that would make it an appealling match if Hunter would go for it, his only loss being to Usyk and Usyk being a clear target for the not-too-distant future.

Kownaki and Ortiz have already turned it down.

Bring on JOSEPH PARKER. Former champ and champing at the bit for redemption...

Training camps for world title fights are usually 8-12 weeks. 7 isn’t ideal but it’s not terrible, and Ortiz isn’t in a position to wait for ideal conditions. He needs to take what he can get here, and save the boxing world from the cataclysm that is Joshua-Charr. Save us.

Cannot believe Charr is quoted. Helenius would destroy that bum.

E-Hearn thinks Mike Hunter could be a very tricky opponent for AJ, and we all saw what Hunter did to Wach's daddy Bakole (Billiy Nelson said Wach apparently told someone after the fight that Bakole is the hardest puncher he's fought) who has sparred at least 80 rounds against AJ (I think I recall someone in his team saying it was actually 130) and is going to be sparring him for the fight on this date too and Bakole gives AJ real tough work, hence why they're inviting him back again.

And Hunter has plenty of experience in the ams fighting SHW behemoths.

    Roberto Cammarelle
Tyson Fury who Hunter claims he nearly KO'd
Andy Ruiz Jr who Hunter beat on the outscored rule
    Islam Timurziev
    Oscar Rivas who Hunter beat
    Robert Alfonso
    Cam Awesome who Hunter beat

And Hunter is also a former sparring partner of the Klitschko brothers back when they were still in the primes too.

IS MICHAEL HUNTER EDDIE HEARN’S ACE IN THE HOLE AGAINST ANTHONY JOSHUA?

If there was a time promoter Eddie Hearn needed the services of heavyweight contender Michael Hunter, it would be now.

Last week, Matchroom Boxing announced the signing of Hunter to a promotional contract. The 30-year-old Hunter now lives and trains in Las Vegas.

Hunter is scheduled to fight on the undercard of the Aleksandr Usyk-Carlos Takam fight at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland on May 25.

It was announced on Tuesday evening that Jarrell Miller tested positive for GW1516, a banned substance listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s site. Dan Rafael of ESPN was the first to report the news.

Miller is scheduled to fight unified heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua on June 1 at Madison Square Garden, in New York City, on DAZN. That fight could be in jeopardy as the New York State Athletic Commission may suspend Miller for the positive test.

Hearn stated last night that a handful of fighters are being considered to replace Miller, including Hunter, Luis Ortiz, Kubrat Pulev and Manuel Charr.

Hunter (16-1, 11 knockouts) would jump at the opportunity to face Joshua as he is already in training for the May 25 fight. He even tweeted at Hearn on Tuesday night.

“Call me, Eddie,” Hunter quote-tweeted to the announcement Hearn made that evening regarding Miller’s “adverse finding.”

In his most recent bout on November 24 in Monaco, Hunter stopped Alexander Ustinov in the ninth round. Hunter has won his last four bouts since his loss to Usyk in April of 2017, a fight in which Hunter gave a solid account of himself.

Hearn is high on Hunter and recognizes his upside.

“He boxed Ustinov on our Monaco show,” Hearn told RingTV.com last Friday. “He’s fearless. He’ll fight anyone. He’s awkward. He’s a little bit fast. He’s rugged. He’s very durable. I like him. I think he’s a dark horse. He takes a good shot. I’ve seen him get hit hard by the heavyweights. He’s exciting.”

Hunter has sparred Joshua several times in England. It would be interesting to see if Hearn would offer the Joshua fight to Hunter, despite the number of times both have sparred each other.

Still, Hearn is pleased with Hunter and what he could bring against other heavyweights under the Matchroom Boxing banner in a growing and competitive division.

“I think Michael is a great underdog signing,” Hearn said. “He boxed (and defeated) Martin Bakole (on October 13), who’s not that well-known in (the United States) but he’s a very good heavyweight. He has sparred hundreds of rounds with ‘A.J.’, who ranks him high.”

Factoring in that it's heavyweight means you could easily get it done in 7 weeks unless you're a complete slob out of camp. I think it'll be Hunter though.
