True, strength has a big neuromuscular element which is irrelevant to muscle mass, being bigger doesn't mean stronger. I too think Wlad is stronger, takes many years to gradually build strength and Wlad being older will have had more time to build his strength to a greater level.

 

I think AJ made a mistake bulking up. Klitschko has been vulnerable to speed before and AJ already has power in spades. Joshua obviously also has the clinches in mind, but Wlad does not. He's aiming to box at range, and judging by the pre-fight vids, he has head and lateral movement in mind. He's going to use his footwork on AJ.

I predict Joshua coming on strong early and a few hairy moments for Wlad, but by midfight he's in control and Joshua is plodding around after him. Going on a limb here, and saying either Joshua gets him in the first three, or he loses to Wlad by a UD / late KO.

 

Exactly! This is how I see it. I think if A. AJ doesn't blast Wlad out in the first 5 rounds and B. Wlad doesn't curl up into a shell, then Wlad is going to take AJ deep and stop him late or ud him. Smart money is probably on AJ, but dammit, I'm going with the old man one last time.

 

I think this is the right strategy for AJ. Bulking up and doing speed work at the same time, for fast and hard punches early doors is just what will win this fight.

Everyone remembers the Corrie Saunders fight. And I think this could be similar.

If this becomes a chess match or a tactical battle, then that is just what Wlad would prefer. Wlad is far more of a complete fighter than AJ- he has far more strings to his bow and far more tricks to bring to the table. What he suffers from is getting old, and no longer being able to pull the trigger and slowing down....

Size is only good for a couple of rounds. I think aj is so jacked up it aint going to really matter

To those mentioning Corrie Sanders and comparing it to Joshua, Sanders would shatter Joshua's glass mandible as well.

Well, turned out Wlad had the right strategy ... box at range, don't clinch, use speed. Unfortunately AJ turned my Wlad late, AJ early prediction on its head, it seems.

 

It's tempting to say he was too big, bulky and heavy tonight, but in the end he did overpower and bludgeon Wlad so I guess it paid off...

I'd like to see him half a stone lighter.
