hearns his promoter saying aj will look for a title shot in 2016 and not face haye right now. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/boxing/488260/David-Haye-facing-Anthony-Joshua-massive-blow
Smart move. He has literally had one though fight so far. Everyone else has simply been a punching bag, some were even speed-bags.
Good. Hopefully haye is never gifted another pay day. He claimed he was back to fight 4 times a year and earn a shot at a big fight, said he wasn't gonna be calling anyone out, yet here he goes. I hope haye is never in another meaningful fight, absolute con artist.
Too early for this fight, my god, think about the leather being unleashed between them. Firstly, both should be focusing on grabbing a belt, only ibf is available. I highly doubt fury mentions either when their available. One should take care of Martin while the other takes care of fury. That way we have the 4 best hw's by far currently. They can all fight each other while new fighters start to emerge. Only hw's that matter right now, Wilder, joshua, Haye and ortiz. Who's gonna come out on top, that's a few years of great fights. By then new talent will be breaking through.. ****ing great ****
Nothing wrong with Joshua not looking to face Haye at this time. He's simply not ready for Haye yet. Joshua has had 15 fights and about 30 total rounds and the best guys he's faced are White and Johnson, maybe this time next year but not now.
Strange how overrated Haye is. There's no evidence he can still fight, and there wasn't exactly much evidence he could ever really fight much at heavyweight anyway.
I agree that it's too early for this fight - Haye didn't get enough rounds in against De Mori, and Joshua was only really tested in his prior fight. If it happened next there would be real fireworks in the ring no doubt, but I think that it would detract from the overall HW landscape if one of these guys was removed from the picture after walking into a big fight just for the money as opposed to the long term goal. I would love to see this fight though, it's a guaranteed drama show, but they both seem to have bright paths laid out ahead of them and should (can't believe I'm saying this) let this one marinate til it's a potential superfight in 2017.
No point just yet. If Haye is anything like he used to be then AJ is just not ready for that caliber of opponent just yet. If Haye has lost too much then AJ won't get much credit. Let AJ and Haye go their seperate routes. If AJ is as good as people say and Haye still has enough left then this will be a massive world title fight in the future in Britain.
It's a fight I'd like to see but I can understand why Hearn wants AJ to dodge this for now. He can get a title shot going down the IBF route without taking too many risks and, as his promoter, 'fast car' is only doing what's right for his asset. Fighting Haye: too much risk, too little reward. Hate to say it, but boxing is a business after all.
