Joshua - biggest hype job in world boxing

To be fair he was great when he started and knocked everyone out quickly right up to Kevin king pin Johnston.... then disposed of Whyte in style.

It's only the later years he became a hype job

 

What was he doing last night? Massive credit to Dubois but AJ was literally leaning back with his chin up in the air and how the hell did he get caught with that shot at the end of round 1? It came from halfway across the ring and he just stood there with his hands down if that's all he's capable of it's time to retire.

 

Too harsh on him, styles make fights, can win a world title again if they just get an opponent whose got no power, doesn’t throw any punches at him or move there head. Just stands there waiting for the big right hand.

yeh he is over rated. He’s a decent heavyweight good power but too many other frailties. People are harsh on him I feel but suppose that’s cos you’ve got others making out he’s better than he is

 

I don’t see how he’s failed to live up to his hype any more than Fury and Wilder failed to live up to theirs. Fury is the one that was getting compared to the greatest heavyweights of all time, then he gets battered by an MMA fighter.

 

In Fury's case, his self inflicted exile for 18 months binging on all sorts to reach 27 stone is going to end anyone's career as a professional sportsman at the top by 32 years of age.

In fact, I think it is astonishing that he came back from that mess to win a World Title and must go down as one of the greatest boxing comebacks ever seen.

Surely everybody can now see why Joshua repeatedly ducked Wilder in his prime.

 

Turns out it's not so easy to knock people out when you're not fighting barmen moonlighting as boxers

I was ringside in Glasgow for Burns v Crawford.

Joshua was on the undercard fighting Hector Avilla in his 5th fight.

When Avilla entered the ring, my missus walked out citing that she was refusing to watch a bald, grossly obese old man being stopped in one round. When I asked why, she just shook her head muttering that this guy was breathing out of his backside after climbing 3 stairs to the ring.

The sad thing is she was not joking or wrong.
