I agree. When I was reading some of the comments on this thread, I was wondering if some of the posters have actually seen Callum’s career unfold. Buatsi is a good fighter but was well up against it if a fully motivated Smith turned up, which he did. The gap in experience and championship fights was there to see. Well done Callum
I agree. It had everything, and both fighters deserve huge respect, I for one would love to see them do it again.
Good fight. Honestly - the more I’ve watched of Buatsi over this career the less I thought of him. The Hutchinson fight he won, but he was getting lit up at times. It was a fitness thing. He doesn’t throw enough or have a wide enough arsenal and he’s so easy to hit. Saying that - I think I actually rate him higher after the fight because he showed a great chin and I think when he put his hands together he caused Smith a lot of trouble - just didn’t happen enough. Credit to Smith as he got himself in good shape and really put it on him - with a gameplan.
pleased to be proven wrong in this fight. probably the most guts and versatility I’ve ever seen from Callum. credit to Buddy McGirt for again giving a shot in the arm to a fighter seemingly on the way down
Hopefully Butasi gets a bit more respect now , he put up a great fighter against a very good fighter who’s fought at the top level.
‘Some injury or something’ haha. If you are new to this sport fair enough, but do your research. I was a massive Groves fan but even I could admit he was on the decline a bit, even before the tiny injury of his whole arm come out of his socket! Everyone knew in the build up the injury would be far from at its best as it was a race against time, loads of questions about it. Don’t use him beating Eubank as something good! He’s always been garbage and knew he’d be kod if he didn’t run away from Groves for 12 rounds. Look what Callum’s little 11 stone brother done to him. Despite being dropped 3 times and them not counting he successfully avoided any combat other than getting his head boxed off at range until Groves’ arm popped out. He then went for it for one round and got caught and hurt by a one armed Groves hahaha. I am no Smith hater but he beat a patched up slowing down but still dangerous Groves. As one poster reminds me, I am the one who could see a way he would beat Beterbiev haha. I will say what I think though I don’t think he’s exceptional at anything really like many did though, very good fundamentals with power and spite. That always gives you a good chance agaisnt 99%.
Great post again! I thought Smith would lose against Buatsi because I thought he'd go into his shell and not have the fight in him when it got tough. He proved me wrong. His performance against Alvarez was terrible. I am wondering if he was shagged at the weight.
Thanks mate. Yes I agree, Ryder was another poor one where I thought he got lucky. Like me point in the other thread though, I think he was always too tall for the weight. Is great when he banging everyone out but you could see when it started not being beneficial. This content is protected He speaks about Canelo fight and prep from about 29 mins to 41 mins on this.
Top top fight, and after getting quite strange abuse on here I'm just sad he didn't get the stoppage. Oddly as someone else says above I actually think Buatsi stock higher after that fight as well. I assume now Bivol needs a rest someone witll strip him and if so hopefully Smith can get a world title at a second weight.
Sounds like YOU are new to the sport, Eubank Jr isn't anything special obviously, but to say ''he's always been garbage'' is just absolutely utter nonsense
