Joshua Buatsi vs. Marko Ćalić RBR

Buatsi is a total hype job who will end up like Yarde. This has been easy to see for quite a while now.

 

How so?

 

His head and foot movement are seriously lacking. He also lacks a solid guard and good counters if he wants that style.

 

More fun than I expected. Calic doesn’t look a bad fighter, although doesn’t seem to have much pop and could do with working the body more. Nice fast hands which seemed to catch Buatsi out time and time again. That’s something for him to work on. Thinking about it, I think this will prove to be more of a learning fight for Buatsi than any kind of exposure. His conditioning looked solid and he didn’t panic when the other guy started returning fire. He needs to move that head more and perhaps catch/counter against this type of fighter.

The Cameron fight was dreadful. Babic is a bum but he’s plenty of fun

 

Absolutely, Babic is a fun character, but if any half decent fighter drags him to round 4-5, Babic will have outpunched himself by that time and lose by KO.

 

We saw why Hearn and Team Buatsi don't want anything to do with Callum Johnson any time soon.

Can you imagine the state Buatsi would have been in if that was Johnson hitting him?


Right now, I'd pick Yarde to smack the crap out of Buatsi.

 

As for Babic, what type of clown show is this?

Is this really the state of British boxing in 2020? We've had YouTube fights, now bouncers with zero skill slinging their arms around...

BEYOND EMBARRASSING

 

It's not like Buatsi fought some Joe Blow. Calic is a good fighter and Calic would also be Yarde's best win.

 

Had you heard of Calic before he fought Buatsi?

 

I'm not having this rubbish now, Calic is some sort of really good fighter, nobody had heard of him until he signed to fight Buatsi.

Babic beat him twice as an amateur, that's all you need to know really but..

Go and look at Calic's record, his best win is probably who? Mukhulishvili? With a record of 6-1.

Just look at his record, he is 33 years old and hasn't done a thing but because he made Buatsi look bang average he is now some "good" light heavyweight.

Calic on Boxrec (yeah I know, it's Boxrec) is ranked 167th in the world.

When Hearn is telling the world that you are ready to take over the world NOW and shouting his mouth of at Beterbiev.. you don't turn up against a man ranked 167th in the world and struggle like that.

He beat Babic twice in the amateurs actually. But yes he isn't supposed to be near Buatsi's level as a pro or amateur so that was exposed.

 

Good fight last night and one that Buatsi needed, especially with such a long period of time out of the ring. This Calic was better than I expected, I didn't know a whole lot about him but he was absolute huge for the weight (makes sense given his background as a HW in the amateurs), awkward and he had fast hands.

You need fights like that which will give you problems and a gut check on the way up. The mistake with Yarde is he fought a load of bus drivers then jumped in with an established seasoned world level fighter.

Hopefully Buatsi can get out again in December depending on how bad the eye is.
