Joshua Clottey Calls Out Paul Williams For 11/28/ Hbo Date!

    Clottey just called out Paul Williams to fight him on William's HBO date for a unification fight.

    It looks like WBO would let Paul pass up his mando....

    Here is the WBO rule on that.

    7) UNIFICATION BOUTS AND UNIFICATION TOURNAMENTS AS MANDATORY TITLE BOUTS

    The World Championship Committee has the power and authority to sanction a Unification Bout or participation in a unification tournament as a Mandatory Title Bout. A Unification Bout is a championship bout with the champion of another world sanctioning organization recognized by the WBO, including the WBA, the WBC and the IBF. A Unification Tournament is a tournament of single elimination bouts involving 4 Champions or top contenders of 2 or more WBO recognized world sanctioning organizations.

    When a Champion has been granted an extension of his Mandatory Obligation to participate in a Unification Bout or a Unification Tournament, his next mandatory obligation must be completed within 9 months of completion to the Unification Bout or Unification Tournament.

    Bit suspect. Why didn't he come out with it before Williams had got the Phillips fight up and running? Williams was throwing chat as well, seems like it wouldn't have been a hard fight to make, unless Williams secretly rejected an offer. Appears as though Clottey is just trying to grab some attention here.

    Clottey had called out Williams before he got a fight with Phillips, but for some reason the fight did not get made.. Clottey is still calling him out.. Since Williams is booked now tho, I would love to see a rematch between Clottey/Margarito..

    What in the hell is up with HBO. First they say Paul can't fight a bum, but then it is ok for Cotto to fight the same bum. First they say Clottey/Williams is not good enough, now after Paul has a fight lined up with Verno, they say it is ok for the clottey/williams fight to go.

    Something isn't passing the smell test here.

    There was no money for a unification fight with Clottey, and people don't understand this because they don't understand the economics of boxing.

    They annoy the **** out of you because they made Margarito run away from a rematch HE is supposed to be calling for, but avenging losses obviously means nothing in the man's record as his previous FOUR losses prove. I know you're hoping and praying day and night for anyone to beat Williams and give Margarito a much needed break, even if someone does that doesn't avenge Margarito's LOSS, he needs to do it his self and he is showing no interest whatsoever because he wants to make MONEY instead. That's the pride over money thrown out of the window together with the nuthuggers(yourself obviously included) that promoted it.

    On point, Williams is already booked to fight Phillips, why didn't they mention anything before Williams signed for that fight?

    Before the first fight he needed to earn his spot and he did, right now he doesn't need to earn NOTHING to fight a man he already beat. It's the other way around dumbass. :deal
