3 of his four losses are controversial:

-Baldamir: was ahead on points. Only officially an L due to a dubious late DQ.
-Margo: Close fight. Margo may have been loading.
    -Cotto: Very close fight.

I always thought Pacquiao's win over Clottey was way underrated. It was one of Pacquiao's first fights at welterweight, and he went up against a very big career welterweight who had never been decisively beaten. People talk of Margo being the biggest guy Pacquiao ever fought, but Clottey might have been even bigger. He rehydrated to 170 against Corrales. I don't know if there are official rehydration stats for Pac-Clottey.

Clottey has been really inactive which may be his undoing against Canelo, but a few years ago this guy would have been a really credible opponent.

Against Baldamir, Corrales, Judah, Cotto and Margarito this guy was arguably undefeated, and never decisively lost. This is a really solid resume at WW.

Clottey said that fight night weight for the Corrales fight was inaccurate because he was fully clothed when he stepped on the scale. Against Judah, he was only 156 on fight night, and 158 against Richard Gutierrez.

He didn't turn up to fight against Pacquiao, hopefully he turns up against Canelo because if he does it'll be one interesting fight!

Clottey is rated right where he was always supposed to be. He's a basic fighter who lacks serious power and lacks stamina. He's a gatekeeper at best.

Clottey's got great power ! He's just never busy enough in the ring. He needs his brothers work rate with his own skill set...

Joshua Clottey is about as underrated as one can get, however...fact of the matter is he comes to lose. His corner is always putting superglue on his forehead therefore he cannot throw punches when he needs to. I do not know why they keep doing this, but they do.

Yeah.... Manny has a tendency of sayings things he don't really believe .

Just like when he said "Mosley was very fast" against Him .

At best .. The fact that he has come up short every time facing an elite fighter.

The guy is a sturdy punching bag. Did you see his bouts with Margarito and Pacquiao? Margo set the punchstat record teeing off on him and Pac did over a hundred punches a round too.

I know that Clottey is an excellent fighter and could've been among the top welters. My concern is not that he can't fight but that he can be bought. I firmly believe that he threw the fight with Pac and I just can't support him anymore as a fighter. Now Canelo is taking him to Texas where he took Trout and everybody knows what that's all about. I don't give him a snowball's chance in hell to win. Not because he can't, but because he won't. The sad thing about it is that I believe he knows it and is ok with it.
