 Chop it into four parts, basically - the first four options, next two, next two, and last two all provide different prisms for perspective and different angles from which to base comparison.

I agree that both can get a title - that's why I specifically worded it that way, and I do hope people voting for against one or both guys' chances realized that. Realistically, anyone who's rated top 20 in a division, unless they're there for some bull**** reason or a fluke win, should be considered at least capable of an upset over a titlist.

I'm afraid your last sentence was a bit garbled, what did you mean? :huh

Soto Karass is pretty much an unknown fighter on here, that's probably why a lot of people aren't replying. I only know about him because I record Telefetura every week. He will continue to be an unknown fighter until he faces a top 10 welter. A pretty interesting matchup would be Luis Collazo vs him. Who would you pick? I would favor Collazo, as long as he's not injured or unmotivated.. too much skill for Soto Karass at the moment and he has a pretty solid chin.

Right now, definitely Collazo. He doesn't lose his cool under pressure and would just have more options to win, as areas of Soto Karass' offense just aren't as polished as they could be (though to his credit, he does mix in a little bit of everything, not just the more comfortable parts of his arsenal). The more time that passes and the higher his competition level escalates, the more that shifts in Jesus' favor. Peak for peak I'd favor the guy I think Karass can become (a very solid A-).

Actually you're right, I do remember Ams saying he wasn't too familiar with Jesus. And a quick youtube search turns up bupkiss..damn shame. One of the most exciting prospects active.

Oh and huki, apparently Clottey weighed in at 152 for the Cruz fight and didn't exactly look like he had meat dripping off his bones, so you may be right - this could all be a moot point. Unless they meet up down the line at 154 (or challenge whoever has a title there in the near future), in which case I'd have to seriously re-evaluate the worth of both fighters in regards to their weight class before even thinking about analysis.

I disagree with you about Karass becoming an A- level fighter in the future, or even B+, but I think he'll become a solid B level fighter and the type of guy who could take out a weak titlist that has better boxing skills than him, but is not as durable or tough. The main reason I remember him well is because I've won 3 out of 3 bets with him involved.. he's never let me down as a supporter. :D At the time of the Ojeda fight he was only a slight favorite and the under was amazingly around +150. The fight on VS late last year made me respect him even more too. That and the Montiel fight were the most brutal fights ever on that channel.

Do you think he will stop his next opponent?

Clottey is better than Karass right now.

Karass needs a bit more experience before he could beat Clottey and I suspect in another 2 years or so he could.

Both are solid guys but have the **** fortune of fighting in a deep division.

The best will beat them but anyone else is fair game.

Clottey fought as a superwelter last night. He might consider staying there if he wants a belt.

    I like both guys.

Soto-Karass would overwhelm Collazo. Collazo is another guy who people seem to overrate considerable based on his performance against Hatton. He was blown out by Mosley, he was life-and-death with an almost shot JA Rivera (who was never more than a B level boxer to begin with, although he was underappreciated), and his next best win was against a former lightweight in his mid-30's whose best win is against Marty Jakubowski. In any case, Soto-Karass's swarming style would cause problems for Collazo, especially considering that he's a true welterweight and that he's willing to take one on the chin to get where he can do damage.

Clottey i had high expectations for but he disappointed me in his previous fight with the puerto rican fighter. I did not see him push for the fight.

Soto-Karass will be a hell of a fighter. He is in a dangerous division but i see him fighting for a title in 2 years and probably taking one. He is like AM but he can actually box pretty decent. HE tends to get drawn into brawls though.

That's one of the things a good, consistent corner and some maturation can hopefully smoothe out.

I am a huge clottey supporter on here. I truly believe he would knock cotto out. His defense is so underrated on here it makes me sick. The man has a natural ability to deflect punches better than most welters. He gets a lot of **** because of people wanting to discredit margo. People need to recognize he was fighting with one hand, and if he had his left (which lets face it, is his best hand) he would have had a complete shutout. Clottey is on a comeback though and eventually people here will recognize.

Cmon man, clottey can fight those kinds of lower rate guys on what I like to call 'Cruise Control'. Why try to bust up his hand on an oppenent like that? His boxing ability lets him do this and I see nothing wrong with it.
