Quartey's jab would put Clottey on the canvas several times, but I still see it going the distance with a Quartey win.
Ike wouldn't dominate, it wouldn't be an exiting fight. He would just jab his way to a clear decision.
Guys, Ike's jab may have been an ATG iteration of the punch, but it belies the rest of his arsenal. People remember him as a one-trick pony, and he wasn't. Quartey stops his countryman late in any fight scheduled longer than 8 rounds.
I think Ike would have beaten Mayweather and given Pacquiao all he could handle as well. Quartey was an elite welterweight. A level about Clottey who is very good but not great.
Ain't that the truth. Imagine he'd faced Trinidad instead of Vargas upon moving up (fresh off both their DLH encounters)? Lost FOTD opportunity...
Quartey-Trinidad was supposed to happen in 1998 at WW, but Quartey's promotional problems ****ed it up. I think that would've been a real good matchup. I'd probably Trinidad the slight favorite.
