Joshua Clottey vs Ricky Hatton, who wins?

The only thing is Joshua could be way too inactive at times and wasn't offensive enough sometimes.
This could allow Hatton to steal rounds on work rate.
I think though that Joshua is too big and strong for Hatton.

 

Hatton trained well for Collazo, he simply wasn’t a welter. Collazo deserved the win and had him out on his feet. Clottey beat Judah easily. Hatton was terrible at welterweight. Clottey probably even deserved the win vs. Cotto.

 

Clottey was up by a little bit and Judah wanted out, but it wasn't that great of a performance from Clottey and Judah was cut and post Cotto.

 

Did you think Hatton looked like the same guy against Collazo and Maywether? I think Ricky looked like he was in top form against Floyd but something looked off against Collazo. Hence I assume he was better than he showed against Collazo at 147, not that Collazo was even below Clottey's level.

 

Clottey vs Cotto was razor thin close, I had Cotto ahead by 1 point the knockdown in the 1st was the difference.

Clottey went 12 rounds with a big tough swarmer like Margarito, and was actually winning the fight until Clottey broke his hand. People can't tell me that being pressured by a big Welterweight like Margarito, would be worse than a 5'6 blown up Jr Welterweight pressuring him.

I don't see how anyone can pick a small Ricky Hatton, over a very big proven Welterweight like Clottey, when Hatton had one win at the weigtclass. And his only win was a less than impressive disputed win over Collazo.

 

Because Hatton showed heart against Mayweather and was a multi div champ with a real resume, whereas Clottey packed it in against Pac and never beat a reigning champ.

 

Way I see it.

 

Hatton was on the far side of his peak before beating Tszyu. He looked reckless and ragged against Maussa and going up to 147 only highlighted this when, against Collazo, he was lucky to scrape through and get the nod. I think the Collazo fight showed him to have lost a step and waning punch resistance. He looked flat against Urango, as well.

Clottey would have paneled Hatton at 147 and he wins this by a wide decision. I wouldn't rule out a KO victory for Clottey, either.

 

Hatton would not be able to break Clottey's guard. Clottey was a force when he was on, people saying his best "win" was a SD loss vs. Cotto, and maybe so. How would Hatton do against that Cotto? Probably get stopped before 10, to me. Clottey would pick Hatton off, counter him coming in, and have the Hitman looking ineffectual with his attack. Too big, too strong, too much defense for Hatton, and Clottey could throw a straight punch.

I can only see Ricky getting nailed by straight punches and basically wailing away to little effect.

 

If their both allowed to drink 1 shot of whisky chased with 1pint of beer in between rounds like they do at Mc Murphys Pub, then my money is on Hatton.

 

Ricky Hatton was one of those fighters that couldn't jump weight classes w/success. I'm pretty sure he only won one fight at WW.

Clottey is nothing if not steady. Ricky not physically strong enough to deal with him or fast enough to befuddle him.
