Can there be an upset here??

i was always pretty high on alvarez, a tricky and clever southpaw with good speed.

clottey if far more experienced, but he has never been confronted with someone like the unbeaten alvarez.
he looks great when the opposition stands and trades..........but this wont be the case here!!!

its a tough call since alvarez i taking a leap up in class.

but i think he has the talent to spoil the party here.

I still believe that Clottey is being overhyped due to his performance with Tony so I don't see any reason to eliminate the possibility of an upset just like happened to Kassim Ouma in his last fight ( and after the brave performance against Taylor). Joshua is expected to come through simply b.c. it's the IBF ww eliminator though, and he should let the superior ring experience tell but no way is he a major player in the division, at least in the same level of Judah, Margo, Mosley and the three alphabet title holders... He's being favoured due to that Margarito fight - why doesn't Louie Collazo get a Welter eliminator after his hands' injuries when facing Shane? Clottey should have been put against Louie, Mark Suarez or Andre Berto.

Yes. I'm looking forward to seeing Clottey in action. I still haven't made up my mind about him.

I think it was more of the way he was beating Margarito that has people thinking he's a real contender. They he only has two loses - the one to Margarito - whom he was beating - before hurting his hand - & Baldomir. I didn't see the Baldomir fight - but from my understanding he was winning that fight too - before being DQ'ed (for something minor - at least I was told).

Collazo hurt hand or not - didn't really show much in his fight against Shane - as he did against Hatton.

Understand your agruement - but I think the kid is a pretty good fighter and would give anyone from Berto - to Cotto problems. I know his name is being thrown around as a possible opponent for Cotto in March - if the De la Hoya fight doesn't come thru. Would like to see how that plays out - but would rather see Cotto/Mayweather - Cotto/De la Hoya - or Cotto/Mosley 2 - all good fight to me.

Yuri Nuzhnenko beat Frederic Klose and is the WBA new number one contender ( last mandatory defense was against Urkal in March, two fights ago) so Cotto fights a third consecutive voluntary defense and/or meets, at least, Antonio Margarito who was rated number 3 as of November 29 - http://www.wbaonline.com/ratings/rankings/2007/wba1007.pdf

i do think that clottey is a solid contender, considering he was clearly beating baldomir before losing via dq. add the wins over unbeaten gutierrez and corrales as well as the competative loss to margo.....and you have a pretty good contender!

but i have a feeling that clottey has looked this good because he has only faced guys that stood right infront of him:

corrales, baldomir, gutierrez, margo........all good/tough fighers........but all are straight forward.

this alvarez is really slick. i think that could be a factor.
