How many tune ups did Joshua need for the Wilder fight?

Why didn't Joshua fight Wilder instead of Ngannou?

They should've fought when both were world champs at the height of their careers.

Instead Joshua went to fight Miller, later changed to Ruiz and Wilder fought Breazeale. We know what happened next. I think if AJ beat Ruiz first time, we could've seen it.

That fight back then in 2019 at MSG would've been the biggest HW showdown in decades.

That was after the 2 Wilder knockouts. Obviously Ortiz was no longer the same guy

Because Ngannou was coming off a SD of Fury which Wilder never came close to achieving, while Wilder was coming off a one sided loss to Joseph Parker?

Or the real reason which is that Ngannou is an easy KO and Joshua is still a dangerous fight...

Why is anyone even arguing about this as if it's some massive missed opportunity for fight of the ages anyway? The only missed opportunity here is for Joshua to have completely burst a hype bubble in brutal KTFO fashion, but Fury and now Zhang have already achieved that so I'm not sure what sort of satisfaction anyone can have from Joshua adding to the mix.

Wilder is also an easy KO. Didn't the Zhang fight prove that to you?

World level HWs have better scalps than Bryant Jennings as their best win.

    He was contender level.

At one point he was classed as the division "boogey man" though, I'll give you that, but in hindsight that title was clearly undeserved.

Yeah that boogeyman label was just marketing spin to build Ortiz up and that was clearly exposed to be a false narrative after the loses to Wilder, Ruiz and how he struggled so badly with Martin. Also lets not forget Ortiz ducked fights with Ustinov and Joshua, his entire career and reputation as a boogeyman was a complete fabrication.

In reality he probably wasn't much better than guys like Chisora and Whyte, good fighter but a level below the top guys and never really a threat to them in any way.

Obviously Joshua and Hearn didn't think so.

Luis Ortiz wasn't from the UK. He didn't get the same opportunities as others cause of where he's from and his style.

Like you said at the time of the Wilder fight Ortiz was rated highly

No what happened was that Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn really wanted the Wilder fight but Turki Alalshikh told them absolutely not you have to fight Wallin next with Wilder on the undercard haha this is hilarious

He was a threat. Legit top 5 guy at one point. Just didn't get the same opportunities as others

Weren't they in a contract to fight until Wilder lost to Parker?

What's the point of the thread?
