obviously Ruiz is a far superior boxer but if Joshua finds some lateral movement and a snappy jab his size & reach alone makes a rematch 50/50 (at the least) imo. Joshua definitely needs to find a new team. He looked uninspired and what mediocre boxing skill he has seemed to have regressed in that fight. Wilder and Fury i think would have an easy time with Joshua. i am no fan or hater of any of them. i'd root for Ruiz vs any heavyweight now though, that was awesome. Hopefully he is inspired to cut some weight. and for the record i think Fury is overall the superior fighter to any current heavyweight but unfortunately for him a goof with no common sense. i do not believe he should've been given Wilder's belt when you go in there and clown and the champion knocks you down on your ass a few time either. he gave it away. suffer and learn.
This^ He took this approach very briefly in this fight while he was trying to recover but quickly realised such a style made it look like he was basically running and scared to take the fight to ruiz. Ruiz feet were slow enough that AJ could keep that style up and out box him on the outside in what would be one of the most boring fights of all time, weather AJ could keep it up for 12 rounds is another question and ruiz may very well be able to just up the pressure and cut of the ring, But i agree the only way AJ wins the rematch is by a wlad special in epic boring and dull fashion, I don't even give him a punchers chance because hes now going to be shook to take any risks what so ever and i can see that being how he approaches all fights going forward, he either becomes Wlad 2.0 or he he takes another L even more embarrassing than this one. Wlad also had far better footwork and a far better gas tank so its not looking good.
It was a 7 round fight tit. Joshua was never dominating and Ruiz successfully slipped long right hands several times in the fight to get inside. I drawled analysis from it all, not just the start. I won't bother replying to you. Haters Gunnar hate.
Don't reply then. Ruiz is nothing special. AJ is just not that great either. But you need to actually now what you were watching. Ruiz was doing none of that before he hurt AJ who was in finishing mode. AJ never fully recovered. So what if it was a 7 round fight? AJ was still hurt from the 3rd round. He's got a glass jaw. You've never seen it happen before? Fighters get hurt one time and fight the whole fight hurt.
That's if AJ drops Ruiz! If he can't get to Ruiz, he will be broke down and put out. Ruiz is different. He isn't slow, has better foot work than the average HW and knows how to fight bigger guys. His counters are sharp, quick and hard. He also throws in combos. AJ is not very dynamic offensively. He needs to be set in front of his opponent. Ruiz will not do that.
Laughably or not it did certainly appear he had the considerably faster hands and general movement. What is up for debate is whether he really had the skill to consistently counter AJ if AJ wasnt already hurt. He wasnt majorly countering AJ until un till the latter of the 3rd round imo. Joshua was never the same after being dropped that first time in the third What we do know as fact is that AJ was able to hurt and drop Andy too so something was working right for a time. People act differently when they have been rocked. Joshua certainly wasnt fighting to the best of his abilities after that. The more durable fighter though, obviously was most certainly Ruiz.
Yeah Wilder can't box but AJ can? Neither can box. The thing is Wilder has much better stamina, more belief in himself, and probably can take a punch better. Wilder would destroy Joshua. Any real boxing fan knows this . It isn't like Wilder is anything special either. He is just a little bit better than AJ.
I expected Joshua To blast through Ruiz , especially after he dropped him. As he (Joshua) probably expected to as well. He got countered trying to finish him. Should have took his time, he got sloppy & got countered by Greased Lightning!
This. Joshua got sloppy and paid the price, never fully recovered from that equilibrium shot. Had he showed Ruiz as much respect as Wlad or Povetkin and not rushed his work after the knockdown we most likely wouldn’t have seen an upset. To write him off in a rematch is crazy.
The title mentioned. Rematch.... My question is does Ruiz have to accept that it will be in UK as Hear said? Ruiz is the "First" ever Mexican HW champion of the World & the major belt holder in the division, so financially how can anyone think it would generate more cash in UK ? We've all heard/know about Wembley etc , but this as big as it can ever get in Mexico. Move over Canelo a new golden goose is taking over!!! Ruiz is the rightful HW world champion , he & his team should have a major say where the rematch is held, why let Joshua have any more advantages , he is no longer a champ but a challenger so sit quietly sonny & wait to see what you get!! Well done Ruiz, great fight , great heart & took nothing for granted. As far as Joshua being humble ..No he WAS humbled & shown to be exactly what Tyson Fury has said he is..a useless bodybuilder...Wilder would employ a scorched earth policy on Joshua, Fury would make it look like Joshua was blind folded & Ruiz would win in better style...Hearns glum face brightened up my day lol
Right you mean to people like you who hate Wilder? Wilder would of never got beat a morbidly obese light punching guy like Andy Ruiz. Wilder is a poor boxer but AJ is far worse and he got exposed for it.
I don’t hate wilder , I always said wilder / joshua is a 50/50 fight. Joshua was always overrated by brits , but anyway he is more skilled , he is a better boxer with better fundamentals and good power, but also chin problems. Wilder can’t box , but he is faster , he is very explosive huge banger with better chin and better stamina. When most people on this forum said wilder had no chance I said it’s 50/50 and I still think it’s 50/50. Joshua’s loss don’t make wilder any better than he was and he was never anything special.
