Joshua haters: who should the man have fought?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by catchwtboxing, Nov 4, 2021.

What else could Joshua have done?

  1. Of course OP is correct. Joshua fought everyone he could get in front of him

    72.1%
  2. Bollox. He could have fought Wilder if he wanted

    26.5%
  3. Bollox. he could have fought Fury if he wanted

    19.1%
  4. He couldn't get Wilder of Fury, but he should have fought... (add name here)

    2.9%

Joshua lost to one guy rated #10 by Ring at the time. And one guy not rated at all by Ring.

Wilder lost to the World Champ Fury.

Joshua could've fought Fury and Wilder, but he couldn't seem to beat those #10 or unrated guys when that's all that stood in his way.

It isn't what we are talking about. Completely irrelevant.

I've already addressed and dismantled this argument. All you're doing is copying and pasting it thinking you're doing something.

Back in 2018 Wilder had already refused to sign to fight Joshua when negotiating with Hearn about 12.5 million dollar guaranteed. Which is ironic considering Wilder got less money guaranteed in his first fight with Tyson Fury, most of the money actually coming from ppv. Thats why DAZN ended up offering Wilder a gargantuan career high pay for the Joshua bout(s). And Wilder still turned down the offer. Had Wilder taken the first offer there wouldn't need to be any DAZN. But he didn't. So DAZN tried to negotiate with Deontay, and he turned down the 100 million during negotiations. So yes Wilder at that point NEEDED to sign with DAZN to fight Joshua if he wasn't going to sign a contract from Hearn. He ducked Joshua. It doesn't matter if he said he wanted Joshua after turning down the offer, he already said he wanted Joshua next pre Breazeale yet he never signed a contract. He's a fraud.

You can't teach stupid and thats clear. I'm talking to somebody who legitimately thinks Wilder is an All Time Great so lots of emphasis on the stupid part.

Fought the best he could at the time, taking into account the circumstances.

    His persona is crumbling though.

Joshua is fairly rated based on his record. He has both showed his strengths and weaknesses.

Joshua definitely has the better title fight resume between Fury, Wilder, and himself. Furys argument hinges on his zero AND ranking Wilder over the moon.

Firstly, he could fight without every advantage at Wembley. The cards were always on his side, even the Usyk loss was absurdly close on the cards. When he did fight away, it was on his promotion anyway, with the same advantages.

Next, he could have fought Wilder if they hadn't played their A-side contract game for so long. People are rewriting history pretending that this didn't happen and that Wilder's team just turned down some jackpot from the get go. Even the money story is super fishy. There is no way Finkel turns down the greatest purse in history to protect a fighter from making him far less afterwards. Don't believe Hearn's lies. Use your common sense.

Thirdly, they also could have fought Fury but remember, they wouldn't give him 50/50! Again don't rewrite history. The fight was there before he lost to Ruiz but they were trying to bully everyone with their A-side games, including Fury. Fury was even given 50/50 by HAYE before Fury beat Wlad. That shows the arrogance and disrespect of Hearn and AJ.

Now they are one fight from the brand practically being ruined.

His record firmly establishes him as the 3rd or 4th best heavyweight in the world.

No shame in that. He's not elite but he is very good.

Ortiz turned down the fight so Andy Ruiz got the fight instead.

Indeed, though he could have fought Bollox, but he didn't. He keeps on ducking him.

You like to talk about TV contracts yet always leave out the part that weeks later Joshua lost to a late sub and had nothing to defend.

Joshua losing makes who signed which deals pointless.

He lost. He had nothing to unify.

If Wilder took DAZN's offer. Knocked out Breazeale. And he sat at ringside for Joshua-Ruiz in NY with a ****-eating grin in his face waiting to hop in the ring post fight to promote their big showdown, he would have looked as stupid as Joshua did when he spit out his mouthpiece and quit.

Joshua lost. When he did, it was over.

For them to hold their big unification, they both had to keep winning in the leadup.

    Joshua lost.

    It's as simple as that.

Same with Fury-Joshua. They both had to win their last fights. Joshua didn't. So Fury moves on.

You can't blame the other guy when you're the one losing.

I already addressed this. When Miller popped, Hearn called Ortiz's manager with an offer. The manager countered. Ortiz's manager called Luis and told him about the offer. Luis said take it. He needed the money for his daughter.

Ortiz's manager called Hearn, apologized. Said they'd take the offer. Hearn said no. The offer was no longer on the table.

Ortiz's manager then issued a public apology. Said he made a mistake. Hearn said no.

Ortiz needed the money. That's why I said I'm surprised Ortiz's manager didn't end up in a ditch somewhere.

It's also one of the main reasons Wilder chose to give Ortiz a rematch. Because Ortiz needed the money for his daughter.
